Just getting a 991 with centre locks on the wheels. The usual corrosion and paint flaking seems common and mine are no different.

I'm reluctant to spend £1200 on something that should not be in this condition and Porsche as I understand it simply say its not covered by warranty.

What have other people done? I'm contemplating anodising them, but interested in how others have dealt with the challenge.

This is going to sound pretty mickey mouse but it worked on mine. I used a black indelible felt-tipped pen and then coated them with one of the nano wheel protection products (I think I used Carbon Collection Platinum Wheels). Might not be ideal but it works!

I've a friend who had a wheel refinishing business and he said that pretty much all wheel cleaning products weren't good in the long run for the finish of alloy wheels and wheel bolts etc. as the products can often sit behind the centre cap/centre lock even after a good washing down and then quietly eat away into the finish. The best way to clean the wheels is with the same wash solution as you would use on the bodywork (albeit in a separate bucket)

would the above still hold true if the product was pH neutral?

I only use Gtechnig PH neutral body wash all over on my GT3, wheels the lot. Even the pressure washer is kept a sensible distance. So far so good,

Yes, Porsche blame the wrong cleaning products used re centre locks.

Walk around the lot at your OPC and you will see milky nuts everywhere.

I just won a set on eBay so I’m going to see what the options are. They need a refurb of the paint as well. Might get them anodised or powder coated.

I don’t like milky nuts much.....

Yes, i've noticed that on every one i've seen... wonder if ceramic coating at new would resolve? or at least reduce the pace of corrosion.

Gyeon iron is the best product for cleaning centre locks.

Ph neutral and cleans really well with no damage.
