Guys, I was talking to one of the new owners of Bookatrack at Donington on Tuesday, they are planning to cancel the event due to lack of uptake - they need 30 and have 10 currently.

I've done the trip twice before and it is fantastic, you can either drive both ways, or they will transport your car one/two ways. They sort out the hotels etc it really is an amazing trip.

I said I'd post it up on here to garner the level of interest, they could be flexible with the timing - maybe later in September into October, but need another 20 participants so if any of you would like to do it, or know someone who might, please see if we can get the numbers up to 30 and keep the event going.

Cheers

I am still thinking about it - the car I wanted to buy fell through, so on the fence atm - when do they need to know by before they cancel it?

Am sure it would be good fun, so might still do it with the Scuderia

They said they were going to cancel it when we were at Donington on Tuesday, however after speaking to one of the owners it would still be on if they got enough commitment - I'd guess within a week (maybe a bit tight based on your comments ?).

We told him on Tue that we would take x6-7 places (Team Ferret Caterham lads) but he was resolute that it was cancelled?

He seemed receptive enough and he's got my contact details and I said I'd put a thread up here.

I think it could still be on if you guys want 6 or 7 - I take it you are not booked on the original list of 10? - The we could be up to 20 with you guys and a two or three of us that are keen.

Having been burnt by BaT last year when it was cancelled leaving us out of pocket on flights no longer needed and car rental that was pre-paid, wasn't exactly rushing out to throw £1500 in the pot. Especially as I had to really leverage them to actually get it refunded.

It's under new management now with the guys from W2R coming over, so happy to leave the bad blood of yesteryear rest and give them a chance.

Do have a deposit down on the RSR Iberia trip running next April though, so won't cry if the BaT event falls flat.

993rsr I'd be up for this. However I would prefer the week of the 14th October - I can't fit it in on the current date range. Does that work for you?

If so, I am on a private at Zanvoort with LaSource in August so will see if we get some interest there as well. There is 50 on that day so it shouldn't be hard to get another 5 to 10.

I'd prefer to transport the cars both ways. I've used EM rogers pretty extensively to move cars all over europe. They will be much cheaper than the quote bat give us. 6 cars to a lorry.

If anything moving to October was suggested as making it easier for them to plan, so sure and that would work for me.

I think waiting until the end of August will be too late for this year however. If we assume the 10 booked 'could' do October, another 6-7 from Ferret, 3 or four from here, 5-10 from your lot and we could be there.

Do you have to bare your left breast and roll your trouser leg up on the Private trackday's, sounds masonic?

Ferret guys how does that date work for you?

Also any of the existing BAT members that booked?

I'll have a word wen we are at ZV.

Private days are arranged over on s9s.co.uk private forum

most have race licences or at the very least are reasonably handy so you can trust who you are out with. LaSource introed me so am sure there is a place if you fancy it

As I mentioned waiting until August will be too late based on my conversation Tuesday with BaT.

Any chance of gauging your guys interest next week?

I am up for it in october,i will speak to hunter and maca and few other hillclimbers tonight.
I hope there are no gravel traps for the caterhams to get attracted to!

Not looking great tbh. Based on the guidance we got on the day several of the lads have already reorientated onto the RSR Iberia trip in April.

I‘d probably prefer the week of the 14th to the September dates as I need to attend a conference first week of October
Probably game for both though if it happens
What’s the procedure - send Bookatrack an email individually or we put together a list here of attendants and approach them with all names?

Different question - anybody ever paid for a membership at Ascari and any feedback on it?

I said I’d garner interest and dates on here, so post up what suits and I’ll call them next week to see what the options are based on uptake and dates and report back.

Not full membership, but there is a trackday on Sunday 14th July, Portuguese and UK Caterham’s in one session, an open session and exclusive (read expensive supercars) in the third. Let me know if there is any interest and I can speak to the organiser to confirm costs.

Portimao
In October there is an ELMS race meeting on the 26/27th at and then about 70 Caterham’s Racing the following weekend (early Nov) on the Historic Endurance meeting... so they can play in their own gravel :-)

The company that transported some of the cars for BaT Iberia last year is taking about 40+ cars to Portimao for the November meeting and then on to Estoril for another race meeting three weeks later.

Not sure how much scope there might be for an October trip to Portimao, but have some trusted contacts in Portugal, so if there are enough then I can put you in touch.

I could be interested for the 14 October week subject to schedule and transport logistics
