991.1 passenger window switch issue

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue...

My wife flicked the window switch on the passenger side softly to often it yesterday and the switch seems like it almost came out, but sort of stays in place. It can be pushed back down again. It did not open at all, but I was able to open using the control on the driver side. When she pressed the passenger side down, the switch goes back into it's position and does close the window. So it does seems like a broken switch i imagine.

I did google earlier, but could only find forum posts talking about whole door panels having to be removed to replace the entire switch mechanism. I really hope this is not the case, so was hoping to find out other views or similar experiences to shed light on this issue. The car is under warranty, so my next question is whether you think that this would be covered by a claim? I did call the sales garage, who have advised I get it checked properly first at a suitable workshop (which i will), but i am just curious in the meantime

It happened on my 981 before the car was 2 years old and the switch was replaced under the warranty. Not sure if it's covered under the extended warranty but I guess it should be.

I believe the door card has to be removed to remove and refit it.

This literally just happened in my passat. Wonder if it’s the same mechanism.

I had this happen to mine, also on the passenger side.

I mentioned it to my local OPC and asked if it was covered by the warranty but apparently not
think it cost me £45 for them to fit me a new one

My passenger side window switch has broken.
One of my kids must have done it. Bless em...
981 boxster.
Opc wants 120quid parts and labour....
The unit is 20 quid on ebay.

Not sure if anyone can advise if you can simply pop the existing unit up and out of the door card and swap out or is it a bit more involved. Ie door card off...
