Looks great, it's the one I picked out for Taffy.

no idea if it's any good and it's been sale as long as I can remember.

but it looks right, in that right sort of way.

That, or the ST recreation at JZM? Similar money, but one is at least based on an almost period car...

Both look ace, but as other have said it's a bit of a minefield..

The ruf car ...Doesn’t look like a 72 chassis... possible reshell

Wrong details for 72
... vents in dash centre and sides
....Wiper / indicator storks are later
.... 2 heat controls by handbrake ( should be hand throttle on one side of tunnel and heater on other
Obviously the side oil filler isn’t there, but any decent 73 rep would remove that anyway but likelyhood here again is different shell.

Etc

I think any rep is like that, though, hence I don't get them or would own one, rather own a real 73 911S than some fake rep.

no right and wrong in what a backdate has on it is there.

No RS ever had grey decals.
But it’s the interior that’s the big disappointment for me. Too much of a mish-mash.
However, if the fundamentals are good and it could be bought for a sensible price, then I suppose it could be corrected.
Thing is, that money would buy a concours, original, low mls 3.2 G50, 964 or 993 - plus change.

They both look bitsas to me. The RS rep might be ok mechanically and its on a period shell (assuming it is), but that interior makes my eyes bleed. The "3.0 ST" is I guess much more of a bitsa, I'm not quite sure which bits of it qualify it to be an ST Recreation. The G50 box or the 3.0 engine on EFI with a canems ECU!!

They might both be fine cars to drive at 100k just personal choice.

I've looked at both and phoned up about the JZM one...I don't like the interiors on either and i'm not convinced the RUF car is free of rust..I'm going to do a lot more research over the next 6 months as i'm really undecided which air cooled 911 i like best..There is a lot to be said for buying a total mint original 964 with the G50 box and leave as its makers intended..

Fantastic dilemma to have. Good luck with the search.

Thanks for asking! It's a blast actually. I got rid of the kw suspension back to standard pasm set up by centre gravity. I love it. The diff will get a refresh over the winter as it's basically open after 160k miles. Fast, tactile lovely.

The perfect complement to my 69T in fact. Although I can go sideways much better on the roads in the 69 car! The only way I've got any rear end action in the GT3 so far has been in the wet. I'm too much of a scaredy cat to get the GT3 sideways on the road in the dry.

Bert
PS if anyone knows anyone who can use the kw suspension, point them in my direction. I'm not looking for big money!

FWIW I bought a set of Guards ramps and plates from JZM, which basically have similar set up to the (now unavailable) OEM motorsport 997 Cup items. Had Sports & Classic fit them for me (a bit too far to go to JZM for a service) and they work nicely.
