Still no manual...but when it does arrive, I reckon I could get a lightly specc'd one for around £85K

330mm disks and all that weight and turbo power.
Always been the issue going for T and non S models is tiny brakes.

Already driven the 718 GTS and I cooked those brakes.

I think you would toast these if you start to use that 385bhp.

Bar that be a nice drive, but I cannot do tiny brakes.
I have tried the normal car thing also, bmw, Audi, porkers, none are as good as a Golf really, so it's a bit badge buying over the drive, my 911 GTS lasted 2 months.

Yup. The way the model is set up encourages a light spec I think. Given the C2S/C4S so easily gets to £115k with a few options, a lightly specced C2/C4 looks quite good value at £25k less.

To be honest, I'm pretty delicate with any car I own as it's my only one so by default = a daily. You'll be shocked/surprised...perhaps even saddened to read that I get 30K out of a set of tyres on my current 981 C ...plus disks and pads last ages! I have little bursts of lunacy .....yet on the whole, I enjoy driving the thing within the limits of my skills along with respecting other road uses and the law of the land.

I guess I'm just getting old!

I quite fancy specc'ing myself a brand new basic 911 with as few options as possible and keeping it for years...perhaps even forever. I have no interest in electric cars...so this is my last chance to have a car that I will love and behold.....my last indulgence.......then I can finally release myself from buying depreciating assests!!!

Frank, those were my thoughts exactly when I ordered my Carrera T - at the moment, still the last narrow bodied manual 911...

Mr D, behave! Brakes on the T are a non issue for 99.9999% of potential and actual owners; if I wanted an extreme track day weapon I would buy a different type of car entirely.

and Aventura Green is an option! My all-time favourite Porsche colour. Man, this is tempting.

Doing what? I have seen a 718 GTS with Manthey mods on OEM discs lapping the ring. I seriously doubt you are anything like as quick as the driver of that car.

If I went for a 992 my choice would be the base model with pccbs.

I'd hope to go for a simple spec, but having looked at the configurator, it's hard to resist getting close to £100k.

So am I , I am on 28k in one of my cars and still on org tyres (ok I binned the org for PS4S) but that was >2 years a go
and still on the same disks and pads.

Takes nothing away from the car will have st brakes.

I agree a normal 911 is a lifestyle choice, you don't need the brakes in M&S.

If you want a daily driver to use forever then why wouldn't you go for a lightly used 991.1 GTS?

I couldn't imagine owning a new one forever.

Same here. The base car needs lights spec - else what is the point. Better brakes would clearly be high on my list - as would be buckets as I find them much more comfortable than the regular seats

no but 27k on them as I binned the org tyres new in the 1st week of buying the car like I do with most cars I get if they are on Pirelli's.

Just spec the PCCBs, then you get the same size discs and callipers as turbo S, GT3/RS etc

I think you need the bigger wheels for the PCCB, so most cost and more wheel weight?
