911 (992) kids booster seat (not high back)
Discussion
Im in the process of buying a 992, my son is 7 and from the demo I drove he can currently fit in a high back booster child seat in the back.
But... while he is small for his age probably in the next 18 months to 2 years he will be too big for a high back car seat.
We have one of those mini booster jump seats with no back but it won’t fit in because of the sides.
I know the law on these changes recently but without one of those or something similar he will be too small to fit in the back safely as the 992 back seats are tight.
Does anyone have any options please as I can’t buy the car unless I have a safe option.
Front seat no go as wife sits there and also have a 10 year old in the back as well.
Thanks

I use this in taxis - does same thing as booster seat, but I have a huge concern about recommending them for normal use.
Mifold grab and go.
The child seats are not just about adjusting the seat belt to fit a smaller person, it’s actually the side protection. This is why booster seats are banned for sale.
It’s my kids. I just didn’t want to risk it.

I have the same thing (at least looks like it) without the leather that cost £15 or so. It fits okay, but not great. Worth a few emails bqck and forth with them to be sure. woollyjoe said:

How old or large does a child need to be to still need a booster seat? The seats in the rear of a 911 are fairly small already! Mifold grab and go.

Asking for a Grandad I know with a 911

What’s the safe option please for the kids after the high back?
I don’t want to risk anything unsafe and if I can’t find a safe solution then the 992 won’t happen.
The 911 rear seats are really narrow so those boosters with the side hooks don’t fit in.
Not sure what I’m supposed to do here

I’m pretty sure they fit as the lady who runs it visits the forums here every now and again!
Is it the blonde in the picture There can be a lot of heated debate from some members surrounding child safety so you’ll need to make your own judgements. I’m sure you’ll drive much more cautiously when they’re in the back and save yourself the need for a fully armoured hummer to get them to the School gates.
I have 2 Porsche branded child seats for mine, but they’re very rarely used to be honest. They do love the experience when the time arises however!

Do you have a link to the Porsche seats please
The other problem is that the high back can only go up so far around the shoulders before it hits the back of the roof and the window comes down.
Just want a compliant safe solution with no risk otherwise I’m Panemera bound...

It’s reasonably well made and fits just fine.

There's two sides to this.
The booster seats are not legal because they are unsafe. I don't agree this is about debate or opinion. Straight facts.
On a head on collision they don't offer the head support needed for younger bodies and side impact simply offers no protection. There is no ambiguity on this and crash tests prove the risks are real.
What a parent chooses is none of my business, but it is cringeworthy to think we drive on perfect roads with other perfect drivers.
Once, I was stationary when a coach ploughed into the back corner of the car in 20mph zone in London. Hate to think of my kids neck dealing with that after the injuries I sustained. Car rotated slightly if you think side protection is just about being hit from the side.
The upper section does all the protecting. Booster seats just reorientated where the seat belt sits.
You will find a full height seat that fits because Porsche their brand to some.

These are the facts with respect to the law:

My kids have high backed boosters for the rare trips in a 911, but normally travel in a sensible car (before I get hung, drawn and quartered but some). As an additional layer of safety, I don’t bring my kids up in London, hence avoiding the additional environmental and crime related risks, not to mention the huge rate of uninsured drivers in the capital. I’m sure the last poster can now rest easy tonight.

Thanks for this
To be clear I won’t risk their health or safety for anything so this advice is very useful.
It seems the booster seat is not an option at all, so it looks like I need a high backed booster until my son is old enough to sit in the seat safely.
So I’m guessing I need to get the official Porsche one, will this last him until he can move out of it for good?
I’m up North so thankfully less of an issue with uninsured drivers but anything can happen so I want as much protection for them as possible.
