Tried the usual price comparison sites but their prices are a bit silly.

Any good options these days?

Lots of people use NFU, Locktons insiure a lot of Porche’s because of their link up with PCGB. I use both Zurich and Hiscox as the cover is excellent but they;re each better for different kinds of cars. If you want to track your car Zurich include three track day’s in the policy for example. I iuse a broker who was recommended on here.

I found my 991.2 GT3 cheaper to insure than my 2018 M3 CP.

Stuck with Admiral (Probably not the wisest decision) but as the existing policy was in place I stuck with them until I get another years NCB then I'll swap to more of a specialist

I use direct line for mine - and while not cheap insurance, it's reasonable.
If you don't mind saying, how silly was your quote? and for what year/model 911?

I ended up using nowellandrichards.co.uk ( Aviva policy ) helpful and easy to deal with and competitive
AIB were also competitive , good to deal with and only lost out on basically same quote as N&R had already quoted so went with 1st
NFU are reputed good, but I found thier local agent a total pain so dumped them as option
Admiral as some say , good quotes but I preferred the no nonsense terms of the one I took
1st Porsche . All were interested in past car driving experience. To be honest, I am probably one of those bland easy low risk profile people

I am with Admiral.

I had to to go down my spec sheet and tell them my optional extras i opted for.

Hopefully though, I will never find out how good they are .

I use AIB. They advertise on here & give a discount to Pistonheads members. They were cheaper than adding to my multi car policy for other vehicles.

Aviva

I forgot to put in a non fault claim at quote time. I remembered and price went down £150. They called to ask how slick their service was and I said excellent. I asked them to put on my no claims themselves because I was with them the previous year. They called back to tell me I'd understated the no claims and they'd be sending £156 back on my card. All in all, happy.

Maybe that is the going rate? At the end of the day they all use one of a limited number of big underwriters. I think on your other thread you said 15K miles mixed business and pleasure which probably bumps it up.

Indeed. Don’t know if it’s still the case but I used to be insured with them years ago...bought a new X5 and had to do the same re optional extras (which I’d gone overboard on) and realised that despite having to have them all specified that they would only insure the car as a base spec car so in the case of a claim they only pay out on a base spec car. I moved insurers...

I’m on 10k with 4K business miles.
It seems that I need an agreed value policy which I appreciate is more expensive

They are also asking if the 992 has a tracker on as it will be left on my drive overnight?

Don’t know if they do

All new Porkers have a tracker (car comes with a fob). You don’t need an agreed value necessarily...that’s more likely to be used on an older car like a 997 RS. Aviva Private Client include two years GAP insurance if it’s a new car or a very low mileage demo, or my GT3 is on a policy with Zurich which they cover the car up to 150% of invoice.

The policies will be more expensive from those kind of insurers but they tend to be more comprehensive.

Even if you don’t use them it’s worth getting a broker like Nowell and Richards to get you some quotes and understand the difference in the policies. If you compare them to someone like Direct Line the cover will almost definitely be better but you have to decide if its worth it.....not just for total loss bit accidents...who you can use to repair, OEM parts etc.
