992 as a daily driver, which options
Discussion
Hi All
I’ve been debating my new car for a while like most on here I guess and I’ve decided after many mind changes to get a 992 after seeing one a little while back.
I’ve been into Porsche Chester and configured what I think is a decent spec for a daily driver.
I’ve not placed deposit yet not locked spec or anything but will need to do so in the next week to get a delivery slot in time for my X5 going back.
Spec includes
14 way seats
Sports crono
Sports exhaust
Glass sun roof
Is there anything else I should be looking at?
Is the BOSE sound system worth it?
Are the 18 way adjustable worth it?
This will be my first Porsche, so I’m keen to know from anyone with experience what they have specced and how they find it as a daily. I’ll be doing decent miles as I live ooop north and work down south and travel to the office most weeks.

probably not much of a help here - but there was a new 992 in Gentian Blue Metallic last night with the light pack / rear light across the rump here outside the restuarant, and it looked amazing.
What a great colour for a Daily Driver, not a boring plain colour, not a shouty peacock colour. Amazed to see non in the second hand market at all.

I wouldn't bother with upgrading the seats. The standard movement which is half electric for the back rest and manual for the fore and aft are perfect. unless you are constantly swapping between 2 drivers and really need the memory settings its not worth it imo
Sports crono and Bose are definitely worth having
I wouldn't bother with the sports exhaust. unfortunately being turbo charged and having the new filters they are a little quiet, and the sports exhaust makes no where near the difference it did on older models.
I'd also option the spyder wheels and alcantera roof. A c2s specked to around 105K is about right imo.

Std seats are fine, plenty of adjustment, and a comfortable driving position.
Sports chrono worth having
I didn't have a glass roof. Unnecessary weight, plus the sunroof I had in a 991.2 squeaked which annoyed me..!
I drove cars both with and without sports exhaust, and I prefer it with.
Chassis options are where it makes most difference to the way it drives, and deciding how you want the car to drive will influence what you choose. Mine was a C2S with -10mm PASM, and rear axle steering. I'd definitely order it that way again.
I drove a car with std PASM, and without the rear axle steering and it felt really different. The combination of -10mm chassis and RWS makes the car very reactive, and really precise; conversely, the standard car was a little more relaxed, didn't turn in as aggressively, and didn't exhibit as much precision on the corner exit. It depends entirely how you want the car to drive. Ask your dealer if you can drive both options

Don't the 18 ways give thigh extension, lumbar adjustment, seat base tilt/raise/lower and more?I wouldn't bother with upgrading the seats. My 981 14 ways give these and with long legs the thigh extension and front of seat base raise is essential for me. The standard seats didn't suit. Also, it gives me electric column adjustment and auto raise/lower which aids exit/entry.

My 992 had 4ways sports plus and i never got on with them..For the record i'm 5'11' with longish legs and very broad shoulders..My issue with the seats were as they are set lower than the same seats in the 991.2 it lacked under thigh support..This is exasperated for me as i like to drive quite close to the steering wheel causing my thighs to raise..I tried raising the seat but it only raises at the back and the front of the seat cushion remains fixed at the lowest point..It gave me a numb behind after less then two hours driving..The 18ways or even 14ways are superior IMO and well worth the extra outlay.None are as good as the folding buckets which are brilliant albeit no height adjustment. My 981 14 ways give these and with long legs the thigh extension and front of seat base raise is essential for me. This. 18 ways are great, especially for a DD.My 981 14 ways give these and with long legs the thigh extension and front of seat base raise is essential for me. The standard seats didn't suit. Also, it gives me electric column adjustment and auto raise/lower which aids exit/entry.
Having said that, I’m not sure if the adjustable bolsters are on the 14 ways?

Unless you have two drivers the basic sports seat perfect.
Sports exhaust not needed as no difference in noise and quads look better IMO.
Steep speed bumps near me and the front axle lift not needed either in my experience unless you have a very steep drive.
With new wet road sensor tc so advanced awd not needed at all.
I’d add PCCB. No brake dust and the yellow callipers would work well against the jet black paint - personally I’d go crayon or lizard green as black is a flipping nightmare to keep clean.
Quite a big car compared to its diminutive ancestor and a brilliant dd. You’re very lucky and I’m very jealous!
I’ve just arranged a test drive Monday and I’ll have a look at the different seats to see which suit best.
Good shout on the auto dimming mirrors. I’ve not got them on my X5 but with it being high up it doesn’t need them.
I’ll see what the BOSE is like, I’ll be honest I don’t listen to that much music in the car, but I am on the phone a lot.
Does anyone know if the BOSE upgrade changes the speakers and mic for Bluetooth or is that separate?
Can anyone comment on the quality of the hands free for talking at motorway speeds?

For a DD, I'd query the benefits of a C2S over the C2, which could be nicely spec'd for closer to £90-95k
I agree, I’ve looked at both the Carrera and S, and as it’s my first 911 I’m sure I’d be happy with a Carrera, I guess it’s just a bit of a gamble because I can’t get to drive one at the moment. If I’ve never had the extra power I doubt I’ll miss it, and would give me a good excuse to upgrade when the time comes. Nick J said:

Do auto dimming mirrors dim all three? This was the case with my previous car and it made it difficult to see those to each side at night on a motorway. If it's just the rear view mirror, that's fine, you have the door mirrors to spot traffic either side. Glad to be without this on my 981. I just flick the little tab under the rvm to dip it. Remember that?Good shout on the auto dimming mirrors. I’ve not got them on my X5 but with it being high up it doesn’t need them.

The other "gimmick" I've been used to for 20 years is rain sensing wipers. But now I don't have them, just manual variable intermittent wipe, I realise how much better it is to be in control of otherwise "mad" wipers. My wife's BMW is a good example. When it's spitting they go super fast. When it's pelting it down, they dawdle across the screen.
I’m in the same boat as you
First 911 and first 992 as a daily.
I have also just placed an order with Chester for a delivery in November.
I went for the C2 as I couldn’t justify the extra £10k for 0.5 sec performance on roads where you can’t use it.
I went for the 4 way plus seats, boss, chrono, sports exhaust, upgraded wheels, adaptive cruise control and surround view and a GT wheel.
I haven’t locked in my spec yet so am debating the light upgrade but I’m sure the standard lights are good enough.
Let us know what you order and who knows I might see you in it when you get it
