Does anyone have any recommendations for additional lumbar support that I can purchase for my passenger seat (991.1 GT3), either a removable cushion that could sit on top of the seat or maybe some additional padding which could be placed within the seat?

Personally I find the folding buckets great on long journeys, but my wife gets a lot of back pain - she’s very short, so doesn’t seem to fit the seats very well and obviously they don’t adjust.

Thanks, Steve

‘Medipaq wedge’ (it’s a medical grade memory foam wedge cushion with slim profile).

You will find on amazon etc. Very reasonably priced.

We are currently half way through a euro tour in 996GT3RS - 2000+km at the mo and not a single moan from wifey!

Just to clarify - I was expecting a bolster type cushion to go into the back of the seat - this is more of a cushion to sit on - presumably the idea is that this lifts the passenger enough to get the benefit of the lumbar support built into the seat?!

Try this ...

https://www.morfit.co.uk

It's a heap better than the simple cushion or bolster type lumbar supports because it actually moulds to match the seat to your lower back, then stays in that shape.

Bit pricey, but worth it.

Yes that’s right - and for my wife who is also short it has worked very well - the buckets in a 996GT3 are extremely firm/thinly padded in the seat area - not sure how they’d compare to what you have.
If it hadn’t worked then the ‘Morfit’ one suggested would be the next thing to try as well.
Maybe a combination of both is the perfect answer / would give the maximum flexibility?

I use a slimline feather cushion bought for about £5 from dunelm mill. Use a suitablle cover and for £15 or so it’s a perfect solution. I have a real issue with my back in most cars and have used this cushion (or a version of it) for years and it has completely solved the issue for me.

The important point is getting a feather cushion to make it mouldable to the correct thickness.

Not sure when we’re next going to get a chance to use it, but it certainly looks ideal, being fully adjustable!

Thanks to those who contributed, Steve.

This fits behind the oem back cushion and gives added support.

I used some camping foam behind the original bolster to sort it. Very easy. Probably cost 5p biggrin
