991.2 GT3 Smoke on Start up
Discussion
Took my GT3 to The Warren Classic and Supercar show today and paid for the VIP parking spot which means you’re on a slightly posher piece of grass!
The car was on an angle right to left and when I came to leave upon starting it up I was met by a rather large cloud of blueish smoke which was met with some very strange looks by both onlookers and myself!
Is this normal? I’ve read somewhere before that they tend to occasionally do this. Is it something to do with being parked on a slope and the dry sump?

They can and do tend do this, oil is so thin now,you get some oil seeping, and gravity with the high oil tank, nothing to worry about as long as it clears and no undue noises! The car was on an angle right to left and when I came to leave upon starting it up I was met by a rather large cloud of blueish smoke which was met with some very strange looks by both onlookers and myself!

I think it’s something to with being parked on a slope...my 997 GTS did this once when parked on a “sideways” slope.
My thoughts too. Horizontally opposed engine if one side is higher than the other (due to the slope) I’m guessing some oil must pool and then get burnt off once the engine restarts Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
