Just wait. What's the other sports car?
4C. Not worth ditching that for a cooking 911
Abuse the 4C until you want rid, then look for a 911. Though be aware that children fitting happily in the back seats is a limited timeframe, before they get all gangly and uncomfortable. When you’re on Dad duty with two saucepans the 997 or indeed any 911 is a perfect form of transport and will last until both kids are well over 10. My two are 11 and 8 and love going in my 997. Going four up really depends on how tall the front seat passengers/driver is....there’s f
k all room bedding me (just over 6ft)...my daughter could sit behind me crossed legged until she was about 6.
Mate of mine used to refer to his DB9 as his “family car” but he’s 5’7 and his Mrs is 5’0

This. My kids are 3 and 6 so I am pleased to hear I can get a good few more years before fitting them in the 997 is an issue. My "man maths" figured now was indeed the time, because if I left it any longer the kids would be too big etc. Only 2 issues I have is that because of the engine sitting behind the kids they are forever telling me to slow down, when I am usually only doing 30mph. Secondly, the engine noise and cabin noise seems to send them straight to sleep if they are even remotely tired.Getting "approval" from the missus, well I didnt bother. Its my money so I did my research, kept my eye out and snapped up a nice 997 turbo when one appeared at a local specialist. Got it home and the wife had no idea what it even was, however I dont think it was the "black 4wd" she had in mind. It wasnt until she got all Miss Marple and found the exact car on autotrader and saw the price that she went mad! But I then pointed out to her the lack of depreciation of it compared to the £4k a year her Ford was costing us each year....
Thanks for the reply’s gents. Good to know the 911 will last as a family car till just before the teens. Might make it easier on the missus if she finds out, as for the 4C I’m not ready to let go of it yet, I fear I’ve watched Jay Leno too much as his words are often “never sell a car” as I sold my cayman and regretted it ever since.
