Fellow 992 Owners - Couple of 'stupid' questions!
Discussion
One month into ownership, still not got my head around all of the tech in the car; two stand out questions before I go ask my OPC for help.....
Heated seats - left and right buttons - they should just work right? You click them, a minute or two later you get that warm feeling? Mine dont. You dont need to configure it in some menu do you, or have the climate set to a setting??? Should the buttons illuminate when pressed? (mine dont)
The sports exhaust button on the dash below the mad central display, one in from the left, might be configurable on earlier models - mine deffo has the exhaust symbol on it. Does nothing. Does not illuminate when pressed, when in 'normal' or 'wet' does not activate the exhaust valve. When in 'sport' or 'sport plus' does not deactivate it either. Exhaust activation works off chrono -> sport or off the vehicle config settings.
Am I being stupid, or do we have electrical gremlins creeping in?
Manual gives no hints.
Next question will be WTF is a widget on the display, why do I need it, whats the point. Love the display, its just a bit frustratingly complex and after all that, still can't quite configure it how I want it.
Otherwise, loving it. 685 miles now!

Heated seats.....lights work ( 3 , 2 or 1 ) and seats warm . Press and they just work ( come on initially in highest setting ) ...Heated seats - left and right buttons - they should just work right? There is a setting available in the PCM control>vehicle>seat settings>driver seat heating balance. some nonsense about the balance between the backrest and seat cushion heat ( or ventilation is have )
I have 2 configuration buttons. sports exhaust is only on the car display ( and also activated by sport/sport+) I can assign to one of the 2 buttons . I have not as I use on for Nav and more useful one for blank screen
I saw interior of someone s new 992 CAB on Rennlist , and they had that exhaust button ( I think )
...oh and the widget nonsense....you can put items one the "home" screen. for example, can have button for sports exhaust on the screen
I am quite into tech , but i totally lost interest in that part of the system. maybe something for winter when in sitting in garage making broom broom noises and too worried to take it out on salt roads.
Maybe by end of winter I'll have figured how to hack the body control system , so I can have things like engine auto stop disabled and PSE on , when I start the car . Did this on canbus on my other car , but not looked into what bus protocols used in this my 1st Porsche.

Cheers, as I thought, definitely have gremlins, the hazard light switch in the middle doesn't work either, nor does the switch with the shock absorber symbol which I presume stiffens things up. No LED's coming on with the heated seat buttons and I'll need those soon.
I love the display but they needlessly complex to set up, I'm into Tech but get bored / distracted easily, attention span of a goldfish. Cant figure it in < 1min, move on, next, like you say, a winter garage thing when the rest of the family are getting on my t:ts

Sounds like you have a few problems to sort but should be minor. Im having my entire dash out soon as i had a fault come up in the display saying SOS fault detected take to dealership.
Im 2000 miles in to my c2s and I've absolutely fallen in love with mine. The way it handles and feels is just sublime and better than any other 911 ive owned BY FAR!!!!
I bought these today in size 13.5 and they fit like a glove .
Im off for a night drive right now .

So far the only way I've managed to disable the auto stop/start is to switch it top Sport mode as per the manual. But I would like to disable it permanently.Edited by PM3 on Wednesday 2nd October 15:42

I just configured the Individual setting on the mode switch to put it in normal mode, PSE on and Stop/Start off. one twist of the dial and no more pointless stop/start and a better sound. David W. said:

Indeed, saying that, tried that the other day on my station/work shed (stereo stopped working), jeez, there are about three fuse boards in the thing, with the main fuse up front, an amp fuse in the middle and a CD/DVD fuse in the boot. They were all fine, stereo and aircon (integrated) still f***ed. Heated seats still work on her though!!!!!Nuttcase said:
Hopefully some simple connection problem as it affects so many functions. I wouldn't delay in booking a warranty repair as you never know when you might need hazards, also legal requirement.
I didnt comment on your other thread; your yellow S looks superb - even my wife agrees!
Yes, have thought about that as I have a road trip planned late Oct, so trying to get it sorted before then, work schedule is making it tricky, as my OPC has nothing until 17th Oct.I didnt comment on your other thread; your yellow S looks superb - even my wife agrees!
As for yellow, thank you, I always thought it looked good on a Porsche, but it has really really grown on me, from feeling a bit embarrassed on day 1, to f**k me thats some car when I glance across on the way out of the front door to go to work every day

I do need a different wife clearly. Saying that, having just emptied my wallet into a 992, I can't afford a divorce anytime soon, so she'll just have to accept that for the first time in 23 years together, she is wrong and I have a significantly better taste in cars!

She says exactly the same about me when it comes to houses, clothes, holidays and soft furnishings don’t worry!
OPC having it for three days, 992 courtesy car booked. Fair play to them, good service. Would be gutted if they gave me an A3 or something.
Fair enough, sounds like they're treating you well!OPC having it for three days, 992 courtesy car booked. Fair play to them, good service. Would be gutted if they gave me an A3 or something.
Its back from having its buttons reconnected - yes, the module that controlled heated seats and dashboard switches had disconnected itself / never been connected properly at factory. OK, s
t happens I guess.
Another stupid question.... on the loaner 992, when I first pull away, I feel the seatbelts give a little tug as they tighten. Remember the demo car doing it as well. Mine does not. OPC said try moving the seats about and give them a bell if it still does not work. Anyone else noticed this?
Also, this popped up (on the loan 992 - not mine) which kind of tickled me, the fact I'd soiled the sensor.... then thought oh, that could be serious, but it didnt say stop so I didnt.... and restarted it and it went away.

Guess the foibles of a newly released car and the massive reliance on tech.
Still loving it though
