Having somehow got a bad dent in my near side silencer/muffler box I am considering replacing both sides with boxes that will also improve the sound somewhat. Any suggestions on brand please and what Would I expect to pay. (997.1 3.6) thanks

I put a Dansk exhaust on my 2002 996 (3.6l)
Supplied and Fitted by John at Tower Porsche.
Very good quality item and the sound is progressively pleasing through the revs.

I had a Dansk system on my 994 3.4. Purchased from Euro Car Parts and fitted by Autostrasse. Very well made system and perfect fit.

Just make sure you get right level of loudness. Do a little research on Dansk because they offer two different versions from recollection.

Sharkwerks are well built. They do a nice one for the 997. Easy diy too.

Also worth a look - Hayward & Scott. Was going to fit their x-over solution to my 997.2, but sold the car before I got round to it. However, I do have their system on my Subaru Forester XT - simply the best sound ever on a flat-4 turbo (much nicer than my 718 ...). H&S will supply and/or fit too. Very good quality and buying British too.

Do some research on Dansk.

Top Gear are recommended a lot, I spent a bit more on my 996 3.4 & went for Cargraphic, very pleased with it.

I have a Milltek on mine, sounds very nice (to my ears) without being over the top. Search u tube for Miltek videos there's an official video on there with sound clip.
I've been warned off a sports exhaust AND Decat together as it is apparently too loud and sounds 'rough'. I have also installed the 'cold air' feed mod, which for about £80 gives a nice improvement (i.e increase!) in induction noise. Deign 911 sell these.

Following, consider a stainless aftermarket 'sports' system, including all mufflers, cats intact, stainless. Probably want to assess your manifold flange bolt condition first, as if they're rusty af, you can bet on the same money again required for a drill out rusty ones & stud conversion.

NB; don't get a gundo hacked muffler set, sounds like a fart box..

my sharkwerks sounds awesome. Quiet when pootling, a banshee wail when on it!

On my 996 3.4 I have:
Top gear 63mm manifolds
Top gear 200 cell big bore cats in X-pipe form
Dansk boxes
Ti studs
All these bits fit the 997.

Sounds amazing. Not loud inside unless you're really pressing on, although from the outside I'm told that it sounds like a flat 6 superbike, particularly on the down changes smile

Bear in mind that I have no sound insulation, light weight carpets with no backing, and "drillium" interior panels. You can go quite far exhaust wise without it becoming tiresome if you get the right component parts.

I’ve got a Carnewal GT exhaust with sports cats on my 997.1 C4S. Would recommend them.

Have some before and after videos if you are interested OP.
