992 turbo orders
Discussion
Anyone had an order confirmed for the new turbo or have an idea when the 1st ones will be on the road ?
I placed a generic deposit (ie for a turbo, but they couldn't put it down as such) some time ago, but not heard anything since. If they're going to give orders to 'preferred' cutomers first, id rather cancel mine rather than receive one at a time they are already below list

I'm not sure I fully understand. Porsche won't sell new cars for below list. Perhaps you mean you don't want one unless slightly used cars are still selling for a premium. I'm happy to be corrected but I don't recall turbos commanding a premium before. Isn't it just the GT models people go crazy for?minimalist said:

Think that’s gone though....market is knackered and you only have to look at how quickly 992’s appeared as pre-registered or one owner careful owner to see how much less demand there is though.
OP does have a point though. OPC’s will be giving first allocations to their best customers.....knowing they will be getting the car back in three months. You can see why OPC’s do it and if you buy one to use it you can’t compete with it.

Porsche might not sell them below list but their dealers will. My 992 came from a Spanish OPC and there was a 6% discount for cash straight off the bat. There will be no difference with UK dealers as soon as supply threatens to outstrip demand.minimalist said:

What i meant to say was, if im getting one of the very first, then buying at list is ok. If i like, ill I'll sell the gt3 and keep the turbo. If i don't like it, i can sell the turbo and not loose much.
However if im right down the pecking order despite a very early deposit, then I'd rather have my money back, and pick up a hardly used one for less money sooner, rather than wait for my turn. In the current market, i don't expect the turbos to hold value like the previous gen.
When i paid my 'deposit ' i was told i was 2nd on the list, but if others have already got confirmed orders, then the dealer is clearly just playing me.
I don’t think anyone has got a confirmed order for a car that hasn’t been launched. OPC’s only receive build slots for cars once they have been launched so they can’t confirm an order until then regardless of what anyone tells you. People may have been told that they are getting an OPC’s first Turbo and with a high degree of certainly the OPC has told them it’ll be say Q2 2020 but that is not a confirmed order. Different OPC’s work in different ways....as do Sales Exec’s at OPC’s. Your OPC or Sales Exec may play it ultra straight...some tend to be vague because it means they keep their options open.
I assume you’re a good customer of your OPC given you have a GT3....I’d pop in and have a cup of coffee with the Sales Manager/DP. If they are evasive about that chat then you have your answer......

Nope, i had to pay overs for the gt3! I assume you’re a good customer of your OPC given you have a GT3....I’d pop in and have a cup of coffee with the Sales Manager/DP. If they are evasive about that chat then you have your answer......
Soon to be announced I'd imagine. Virtually undisguised 992 turbo s p ride vid for journo - 10 piston front brake callipers which the car needs to be fair. After 15 mins on track you do get brake fade on the current 991 turbo s set up.

My main concern with the 992 Turbo is the weight has apparently crept up by 75Kg..This means the Turbo S weighs a massive 1675 KG or a to put it in another way a huge 250 Kg heavier than the latest GT3 RS WP..However it'll still be mind blowing fast with 650 BHP..https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=233&am...

But to be fair the 911 Turbos have never been an out and out track day car. Great all weather daily's car then press a few buttons and very fast on track albeit, as pointed out above for a few laps due to the brakes going off a bit when driven very hard. No doubt like the 450 quoted for the 992s C2s this 650bhp will be on the low side. I've got a 'generic' deposit for a Turbo/S at two different dealers. I'm not a preferred customer and neither said they could definitely get me one of the first cars. Wouldn't even tell me where I was in the queue.
I'm assuming that if their preferred customers want one they will get it and I will get bumped. If demand is low they will ring me up and tell me how lucky I am to get one of the first cars lol.
I was very clear with my deposit that if the car, its spec, its price or the timeline didn't suit I would want my money back.
As others have mentioned the car hasn't been officially launched so nobody can have a confirmed car until it is.
