Width across doors: 996 vs 997 C2
Discussion
The old man has a single garage and years ago had a 996 Carrera. He is thinking about getting a 997 Carrera S. Both RWD.
What is the difference in width across the doors of the two cars?
The width of the cars is easy enough to find online and Wiki shows the 996 at 1770mm and 997 at 1808mm, but that is probably across the rear wheels or the mirrors.
I am thinking it is the width across the doors that would determine how tight it would be to get in and out once parked.
Does anybody know the answer?

Morning!
Yes, the width of a 997 C2s is 1808 from mirror tip to mirror tip, not the rear arches.
I'm not sure what the width is excluding mirrors, however I can tell you that getting mine into my 1900 wide garage aperture is actually quite easy. I park forwards, and use the nearside mirror to get as close to the left side of the aperture as I can. Keeping the car straight means I have about 30mm space for the nearside wheel arch (yes, I know it doesn't sound a lot) but more importantly, there's plenty of space to get out once I'm in - winding down the window first - and I've got a piece of carpet on the drivers side wall to protect the door edge.
A 996 will be a bit narrower, of course, but only across the rear arches. If I recall correctly, the 996 / 997 weren't that far apart width wise from the doors forwards as a lot of the (negligible) extra width was in the bigger mirrors themselves.
