996 PSE welding Bristol
Discussion
My 996 just managed to go through yet another MOT with a blowing back box where the seam is splitting. I believe that would be caused by rusting from the inside outwards
I have previously toyed with replacing it with something new and stainless.
Sadly I never have bitten the bullet as I don't really want to shell out so much money and maybe end up with something I don't like.
PSE is generally such a good mix of not crazy noisy at low revs and perfect sound at high.
One option is perhaps to get it welded back together - by someone I can trust to do do it properly....
Does anyone have any local ish suggestions?
OP, if you have an exhaust which is rusting from the inside out, any repair you have done will just be a very short-term fix.
Unless you are just after a lash-up before a trade-in, its very much new exhaust time IMHO. If you're having to pay somebody to remove it and re-fix, I would seriously consider biting the bullet and buying a new system.

Yes potentially a short term fix - as doing it properly depends on what the inside is like.
If a repair can be welded to real metal rather than rust... then I guess it can be mended well enough to last a couple more years.
Maybe I will take the car off the road then I might drop them off and take them to someone like Promec ( thanks jackofall84 )
Or I have had a kind offer from soemone local to take a look.
Would have get a replacement PSE a couple of years ago if they were reasonable money.
If they were non-PSE or totally knackered it would be an easier choice.
Any suggestions of suitable replacements welcome of course - Christmas is coming
