Hello

New to Porsche and I have recently put a deposit down on a new order 992 C2S (very excited!). After being told a December lock down with Jan build and March delivery I have just been told it will possibly be Jan lock down with a March build as Porsche have put constraints on the 992 which has effected some build slots but can't confirm anything due to the factory being shut over Christmas.

Has anyone else been told there are constraints on the 992 or is something else going on? Just seems a bit difficult to get the dealer to commit to build dates.

TIA.

I can’t help re anything specific on 992...but can confirm the updating of OPC about when cars are going into build and then once they are in the factory and even on the way to you is utterly chaotic. The computer system that updates the OPC’s and Vehicle Planning at Porsche GB is a joke....I’ve had a car turn up at my OPC when it was supposedly still in Germany.

As above, maybe not chaotic, but radio silence until it arrived. And yeah, maybe not quite with it The Silverstone thing never happened - I would not have had time anyway - and a bit of other comms was missing including a cockup on collection day, but to be fair, OPC Tewkes were a good bunch of people, not pretentious at all.

Suited me really, as I detest being sold stuff, hate pretentiousness, just want to order, grab and go. Amazon style. And when it goes wrong, I just want to be looked after, which I was.

992 is a great car, you’ll love it.

Hey, we are waiting a confirm on lockdown. 27th Jan is build date (rolls off the line), we where told this may be earlier/normally is. The fact that we have heard nothing in last 2 weeks, makes me think the same thing has happened us as you. Not a massive issue, as we originally wanted in April/May 2020 then got itchy feet. We waited ages for our Macan GTS 3 years ago.

Belfast OPC are very good and quite chilled but do look after us, again not pretentious at all, love the Amazon quote, lol Will check in the new year ETA.

Have to also sell my S3 at some stage.....

Christmas comes again early 2020 - yay

Maybe they're cutting production to support used values, or to boost production of the Taycan, both would be sensible business decisions given the 992 is their halo product.
