Did you check it's position on the other wheels?
Any chance it's a transport block not removed?

I would have thought it was the bump stop. Looks a bit of a more complex design than other bump stops I have seen on older cars though, so don’t take my word for it.

It's a suspension block that should have been removed during the PDI. It raises the front of the car to enable it to get off the transporter and will make the suspension rather hard until it's removed.

How long have you had the car? That’s amazing the opc would have missed that on the pdi. I’d make sure you have the opc put in writing that this wouldn’t have affected any parts of the car given you’ve been driving it. Removing these is essential, your opc has dropped the ball here .

I was wondering how you'd noticed it, I'd presume the car is sitting too high with them in?
I've a 991, l don't think it'd be easy to spot that without a bit of effort at normal height.
I think it's a relatively common mistake, remember my opc checking they'd been removed before a test drive. Told me of a turbo owner complaining of the ride for quite a while - same problem, he was a solicitor!
It wasn't themselves obviously!

Have you done many miles like that? At the very least I'd sting them for checking the geo etc.

It does always amaze me that such high end cars can arrive at the dealership by truck on a Monday and collection day be say a Wednesday or Thursday. Increasing volumes can affect quality control hugely.

Picked it up last Friday. Will speak to them when they open in the morning.

Heard what sounded like a big clang of metal from that wheel. Took a look as was worried about a broken spring or something.

Done 200 miles.

Popped it in this morning and offending bits of plastic have been removed.

If that was used to raise the car up, did it sit between the top of the shock and the strut mounting above it and thus mean only droop and no bump in the suspension travel? Must have been horrendous if so!

Don't know how much travel it allows. On my way over today I was more aware of it, probably listening for it. More knocking sound on bumps which had gone on way back after removal.

Need to go for another good run to see what the difference is now on some windy/bumpy roads.

What exactly does an OPC do when selling a car?

It's a big orange thing they've be removed 100's of times before.

Wow...if I was Sales Manager I'd be making a point of walking around each car and looking into the wheel wells for orange bits. Waiting for a customer to hear a loud chunk is unacceptable

I am guessing they were hurrying to get the car delivered for the OP before the Xmas holidays ? It’s inexcusable but might have been rushed through PDI.

How much did OPC charge for the pleasure of missing something my 14yo son could have been trained to spot. You might want to ask for that back.

No rush - I arranged collection for a week after it arrived.
