Porsche 996 turbo tyres
Discussion
Apologies if this has been done to death but I cannot find any recent threads.
I need a new set of tyres for my turbo and just wondered what is now considered to be the best tyres? Currently on Continentals which have been ok. Car does 3000ish miles a year. Have read about N rated tyres but not even sure that they are available for a 996 turbo. Would be grateful for any recommendations.

I had N rated Pirelli P-Zeros on the car originally, and replaced those like-for-like (albeit the N rating had cycled on).
I've replaced these twice since with Michelin Pilot Sports - much better tyre for wet and dry grip (although they wear a bit quicker than the Pirellis)
I gave up trying to get front and rear N ratings to match - when i had to replace the rear tyres the fronts still had 6mm of tread left - fronts were an N1, rears are now an N4 because no N1s were left to purchase . . .
I keep toying with the idea of ignoring the N rating and trying something even better from Michelin etc - but I'm not sure what would be a step up from the MPS? (These seem great to me - loads of wet weather grip that was lacking on the Pirellis)

I gave up on the N-Rating system after the car became too old for the Porsche Warranty, though the SS was factory fitted to some 997 GT3's...
Anyway, im running Supersports on the rear of my 996 GT3, not sure what the turbo sizes are but i went up a size (think oem is 295/30 and im running 295/35 in SS from memory).
Alot nicer tyre than the PS2 but the sidewalls seem softer.
If you want PS4S, you need to go to 19's.
Ironically, the P-Zero's i had, were worn through after 4k miles but the Michelins lasted alot longer

InterestingI'm toying with the idea of going up a profile on my vanilla 996 c2. The 997 is basically the same car and they run a larger rear than front. I like the idea of having a bit more sidewall at the back. Currently running the standard 17 inch sized wheels and tyres.

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. Will go with the Michelins. Just one further query, my can has been fitted previously with 225 front tyres but the link to the Porsche list of tyres posted above refers to both 225 and 235 section tyres. Does anyone know which is the better option?
Aargh, Kwik Fit now showing PS4S in rear for 996 turbo, but nothing for the 225/40/18 fronts
The PS2s on the front of mine are still pretty meaty anyway - it's the backs which don't have long for this world. I think I'll just put PS4S on the back and leave the front for now. Need to sort it for the winter rain.

Pretty sure you can get PS4S in 235 40 18. I'm tempted to try these [with 295 30] on my 996 narrow body if the rims are wide enough.

I am going to try a set of PS5 on my 996 C2 before the winter takes hold (same size as mine's an early one as well).

Impression from a week of varied driving, usually an hour or so in the car each time. Noticeably quieter than the PS4. Better wet/greasy road grip and seemed the same dry grip. Hope that helps.
It does thanksI recently fitted some Continental Premium Contact 6 to another car and they are very impressive. I'm torn now between these and the PS5.
