997.1 gt3 underbody treatment
Discussion
Waxoyl in the cavities, Dinitrol on the underbody and up into the arches with arch liners removed.
Better practise to have it done in the spring or summer, and make sure you find a decent place, as the quality of underseal jobs varies quite a bit in both quality and price.
I can recommend CSK automotive in Hertfordshire (they've done two of my cars so far), you would be looking at about £500 for a full underseal, and 2-4 days to turn it around.

exactly the kind of reply i was hoping for thanks
what you describe is much more belt/braces than i thought existed
im just wondering whether getting it done outside the network would invalidate the warranty for those that have them (but i wont open that can of worms here - done to death already)

As a non Porsche owner I couldn't comment on that specifically...
However a decent underseal is very much a specialist area, CSK for example are actually an indy land rover specialist so know a lot about rust/prevention/treatment/protection.. fortunately they are more than happy to apply this process to other cars too (Japanese imports in my case).
I wouldn't expect a dealer's (of any manufacturer) idea of rust protection to be anywhere near as thorough or learned as a proper indy who specialises in it, and badly applied underseal is almost as bad as having none at all, or in some cases worse!
