Not completely convinced by the new 992 - bigger, more tech, more luxury, more money, and maybe too good.
Base version looks like it could be the ‘sweet(er) spot’.
But, a ‘T’ variant - lighter weight, simpler spec, bit more fun focussed, manual - could be an even better buy.
Any idea if/when it might appear?

Wouldn’t that be just like an obese man eating one less donut?

The notion of a “lightweight” nigh on 2 ton car is almost laughable rofl

Would be a good car. The only downside of the non-S, for me, is the lack of the lowered suspension option as the wheel arch gaps are pretty big.

That's the way I see it. A completely pointless variant of a technology laden luxury grand tourer.

Having owned a 992S i felt the new PDK 8 speed although brilliant made the car more GT then sports car..The Manual version is a substantial 40Kg lighter than the PDK and will add much needed character to the 992..Another option which Porsche needs to add are the folding bucket seats which connects the driver to the car better and turns it into a sports car..
A 992 Manual Coupe with Buckets, PCCBs and RAS will be a brilliant car IMO and the only non GT Dept 992 i'd consider buying..

I agree that you can change the dynamics of a car quite significantly with a ‘manual’ box, pccbs, selective options - even minor weight savings, and the right seats.
But, as mentioned elsewhere, the base 992 requires bigger wheels to accommodate the brakes, and I thought ‘manual’ was only an option on the 992S
It would be interesting to see how a future 992 T might be specified to appeal to the ‘enthusiast’.

The T ethos on the 992 really is a struggle for me! Shame they didn’t really try the lightweight theme with previous generations...worked so well on the 911 Clubsport and then apart from that I can think of until the 991 T ! Obviously there were Clubsport versions of cars like 964 RS...but no lightened Carrera.

Isn’t the T these days more about being basic, driver focussed rather than lightweight? I think that could work on a 992.

The 992 gets a lots of grief for being heavier but it’s not that bad compared to so many other cars. Astons, Lambos etc all weigh 1700kgs these days! At least Porsche don’t try to hide the truth by using dry weights etc.

Having run a 991T for two years its fast becoming a keeper against original plan to go GT3 once the flippers had moved on.
No I don't have any OPC status when it comes to GT models!
In fact the manual which comes with LSD, lowered ride and much less sound insulation is great fun as a road car and for me 350bhp
is adequate. Forget about saving weight which was a bit of sales hype. Its just a more involving drive and I guess a 992 version would
offer much the same although the wider body would put me off.

you can make a T version yourself very easily, just don't spec aircon or pcm then change the door handles to fabric ones and add some decals.

it's not hard to do tbh

If you're using on road then 350bhp and more importantly that mountain top of torque from 2000rpm thrown in with these lw and other driver focused option makes the t a compelling driver orientated package. If it was just one or two trackdays a year I'd still get the T. I'm going to try a GT3 soon. I'm interested in seeing if possible to use all the rev range without being an idiot to other road users on road smile

Are you threshold braking into a corner while typing messages on PH? I can do this in my Golf and its faster than yours cos its a manual (it isn't actually its a DSG but poetic license and all that for effect to try and sound a bit like you wink)

I could be the only person in the world that wants to be just like you - be nice to me please hehe
