992 C2S Convertible Standard Seats - Advice / Views Welcomed
Discussion
So - in Summer 2018, I ordered a 992 Convertible, spec'ed in early-ish 2019, delivered in late May 2019. I optioned about £12K of the usual - Bose, Wheels, Chrono, Sports Exhaust. I went for standard seats with heating and ventilation. Having had a 996 Gen 1 and a 997 Gen 2 with these seats, previously, I had been very happy with them. Obviously, there was no ability to test drive the car before order, spec'ing or delivery.
The car arrived and the seats are awful. There is absolutely no lumbar support and they appear much thinner than those in the 997. I have asked the dealer to price both full electric standard and sports seats (which have some form of electrical lumbar) and/or a square metre of the crayon leather - from which I would have a removable bolster professionally made. The dealer has come back to say that "Germany says no" on all counts. Professionally, I am a commercial litigator and it is clear what they are attempting to do / avoid. At this point, my actual preference would be a professionally made, bespoke bolster cushion that would be easily removed come resale.
Any thoughts on any of the above - seats, where to source some compatible leather and someone to measure and make (I am near Guildford) - please?

I don't know why you say there was no possibility of a test drive or at least sitting in cars with different seats in before you confirmed your order? Did you not ask?
The 996T I owned had the standard comfort seats, which had no lumber adjustment, and whilst comfortable, needed more side support. When I changed to my current 981, I drove cars with sports and sports plus seats, and the plus versions are much better, but only 2 way adjustable, so again have no lumber adjustment. I personally have no need for this and have always had lumber on the minimum setting on any seat with this.
I'm not sure what you think Porsche are avoiding now you've owned the car for 9/10 months, and sorry can't help with sourcing different options. Paul.

Thanks - there was no option to test drive as the 992 model had not been put in production, at that point. They were far more interested in selling me, an in-stock 991.2 - which I drove and contend the 992 standard seats are different. By the time mine arrived, the OPC had only had a 992 demonstrator for 2 weeks. It has been a "gentle" / sporadic conversation over the last few months - that was avoided by the OPC - until I put a clear request in writing. Then got the written "Germany says no" response.
