I have decided to Sorn our 2019 GT3RS. My question is how long will the battery hold up before it needs charging? I have been given different information from different sources. The latest is that the batteries fitted to late GT Cars will keep their charge for upto 3 months plus if a trickle charger is applied it will do permanent damage to the battery. Please can I be told what is the correct thing to do? Many thanks in anticipation.

these new cars go into some battery save mode, more so than the last gen cars.

even with no charger it will last 4 weeks imo.

then when you start the car it will giver you a warning about low battery.

over 4 weeks fit a ctek their is no damage using these, they recond the battery if anything.

MXS 5.0 is the one to get.

Your car will have a lithium battery so the CTek one to use for any length of time is this

Your battery will be good for at least 3 months without a charger, pop the bonnet

I think he meant 3 weeks surely ?? I use the ctec and it is a great bit of kit. Before I used to let battery drain over a few weeks then charge, but batteries were knackered within a few years doing this over winter. Glad I bit the bullet and bought the ctec charger/conditioner.

McLaren recommend keeping their cars on a CTek Lithium charger when not in use for any significant time (weeks).

So do Lotus with the 410 Sport and 430 Cup ...

I wouldn't take a chance on this. It's a real ball-grind trying to open up a car locked on central dead-locking, with a flat battery.

Even reading the instructions on this is complicated ... so if three months is correct, I would be amazed.

Due to poor weather and going away on a long holiday I had my 2012 Boxster 981 unused for 10
weeks. It started first time with no problems. No charger attached.
I did have a new battery at the start of 2019
As a precaution I had left the bonnet open

Yes, without a problem. You said 3 weeks, do you think any manufacturer would put a battery in a car that lasted that long, take deluded and stick it to your forehead.

I left my 981 Spyder unused last year for about 6 weeks..When i went to drive it the car had gone to sleep and the key fob wasn't able to unlock the car..I then used the key manually to open the car and hey presto it opened.! It started strongly on the first turn of the key..My Ferrari is a different matter and if left unused for two weeks, the battery doesn't have enough charge left to crank the engine..I fitted a 40Ah Antigravity Li-ion battery last summer which has solve the problem.

Yes, they go to sleep as made to do so, also a charging point in the fuse box you can connect to with the door latch to pop the bonnet if need to.

Is your RS all up and running again after your mishap, hope so.

Yes its back good as new.Trouble is its stuck at Bristol Topaz waiting for PPF which are now shut until further notice,,Not really in a hurry to get it back whilst this lock down is still in force..If i had it back in my garage the temptation to drive it regularly on our now deserted roads would be too strong to resist.!
