997.1 C2S does it have an oil warning light?

This could be a quick one. I cannot find it in the manual. Checked my oil couple of months ago and was all good. Yesterday checked after about 2000 miles and it has dropped to “solid block” under the line. Added 500ml then 500ml and took it back to optimal.
Question I cannot find an answer too. If it had dropped to mega critical would a light come on. I know the low pressure light but oil level light? Or fully manual?

There is definitely an oil light. When I picked my 997.1 C2 up 5 years ago with a 250 drive home , the light came on
fortunately the car has been fine ever since. First thing I did on getting it home was full service. Now it gets an annual oil & filter change even though it only does 3K per annum. Never seen the light since

Your car has an electronic oil level measurement system; low pressure warning system and gauges for oil pressure and temperature.
The level measurement system has programming to allow for level fluctuations due to expansion caused by temperature; however, in general the oil level should be checked with the vehicle on a flat level surface after bringing the engine oil to operating temperature ( >80C ). In practice the level can increase by up to two increments (5 increment display) or one increment (3 increment display) - checking the level at different temperatures can give the impression the level is randomly changing.
Worth mentioning that Porsche state a consumption figure for their engines - sometimes up to 1.5l in 625 miles (depending on model/engine size) consumption depends on how the car is used - in some cases (regular super-short journeys for instance) the level will behave counter-intuitively and rise due to dilution (an example seen personally is a routine of commuting <3 miles AM/PM with a daily lunch trip of <2miles - the level increased by over a litre in <200 miles). Additionally; If the level is grossly overfilled, loss of contrast on the sensor can mean the system wrongly displays 'under-filled' bringing some issues (seen some Macan and Cayenne with 8 to 10 litre (!) over-fills because 'it was telling me to put more in').
Check your oil regularly but stick to a pattern to remove variables.
Difficult in the circumstances - unless your next shopping trip is 15 miles+ away; get the engine properly hot and - depending on model - either check the level with the engine running before you switch off or switch off and do your 10 minute shop and when you get back in, ignition on and check. Note the level but don't change it. Recheck the level in the same way after 200 miles and compare; repeat every 200 miles - you'll see any pattern and can consider whether your usage style is affecting the level.
Much easier to say than do; my daily commute of 100 miles has reduced to 0; on the flip side I have saved £180 on fuel and used no engine oil !
