This one is at an on line classic auction ending on 28th May. It has done 85k miles, Carrera 4 Tip. There's a bill for over £7k for a 'new' engine in December 2013. But if anyone knows more about Y161 KCF, I'm curious. Is this a sufficient bill for a new engine?

You can get a short engine for about 5K and 2K to swap all the ancillaries over, so it can be done.

But it's not like it's got a closed deck or better piston linings....

It was serviced in 2011 by Hartech but one of their engine rebuilds would (from reading on here) be more than £7k so I suspect, as you say it was a crate short engine retaining the original 'potential.' In a 'normal' situation, I could attend auction day and peruse al the history and documentation.

Would a short engine from Porsche in 2011 have revised IMS? DVLA still have it recorded as a 3.4.

Depending on what it’s had done, a Hartech rebuild could be 7k... eg, if it just had one bank done.

It's done a lot of sitting around: https://totalcarcheck.co.uk/FreeCheck?regno=Y161KC...

The 2014 MOT looks a bit of mess, and it's only done 4000 miles since then.

Those previous advertised prices at Total Car Check are interesting.

Considering it got a top bid of £10,500 (no 'results' yet so may not have reached reserve), the full price after buyers premium will be £12,012. No it wasn't me!

It was available for less than that in Nov 2018. Before any possible 'negotiation' rolleyes

Having had a good good friend have a recent full engine rebuild by Hartech (with the engine removed directly from his car by them as it had dropped a cylinder head valve) & knowing the size of his eventual invoice, £7k would struggle IMO at current prices to get 3 cylinders done with standard pistons. Whilst Hartech won’t provide copies of previous customer invoices, they might confirm how many cylinders were repaired verbally if an eventual purchaser were to enquire as part of their due diligence.
