It will be time to start ordering the 992 Touring soon. What do people think will be the pros and cons of moving from the 991 to a 992? I've loved the 991 (the only mistake I made was speccing with LWBs rather than the comfort seats). Any thoughts or speculations much appreciated!

Have been mulling over this question too. My 991 is PTS and it looks and sounds gorgeous and was bought as a keeper. Somehow the 992 does not (yet) do it for me. I only like the shape in black - and that's not what I'd want to go for - and the filters will not help the sound. In short: There is too little excitement on my end to make me consider swapping cars at the moment.

No-one wants to swap, til the reviews come out and the new one is the best ever...

Of course, hence I'm trying to predict what would make the 992 better (or worse). Problem is, once the reviews come out, they will be all gone.

One day I don’t think the next one will be the best ever...listened to a Podcast interview with AP recently. He was talking about (amongst other things) the ongoing challenges for meeting emissions/noise legislation...clearly he’s not going to say our future cars are going to be massively handicapped but they will be. His answer to which GT car he’d buy for himself was the 991.2 Touring smile

He's not going to say a car that hasn't been released yet though is he?

I reckon he'll say the 992 GT3/Touring if asked in a few months...

AP is constantly quoted as saying one thing and doing another rolleyes
My guess is next GT3 will be better, of course, but whether many people will be so keen on such cars in the ‘new normal’ remains to be seen.

I thought he’d have said the 992 TBH.

i am sure that the 992 will be a superior car objectively. but it will be a bigger car, over 2m wide now. even the standard 992 is 2,024mm wide now including mirrors. my 991.2 GT3 is 1,978mm. my 964 is 1,652mm !

Therefore i have decided that i will stick with what i have. It's a car that i want to bond with over time. i'm sure the replacement will be amazing, but i'm not keen to go with the super sized option.

Interesting. I'm in the same position but the only thing that is still nagging me is that I got the wrong seats in my Touring! Sounds silly but it's the only reason I'm even thinking about changing.

i have the lightweight carbon buckets too, but find them very comfortable. Had a full day on track at Cadwell Park last week and then drove home afterwards (4 hours) - no aches or pains. guess it depends on your shape.

choosing seats can be a real bind, i seldom seem to make the right choice for me, but had the LWB in my previous GT4 and they worked for me in that car so for once i didn't dread having made the wrong call.

Yep, it's not that I find the LWB uncomfortable - It just feels like you should go racing every-time you get in the car! I also find them very hot - but that might just be me! Maybe they will do the 992 with rear-seats? That would be a bonus.

Buy some Comfort Seats and put the buckets back in when you come to sell

I asked the OPC to quote for comfort seats replacement. Said it would cost circa £15k. It may have even been £20k but I was somewhat dazed and confused by that point.

Just a quick search, sure you could find a good trimmer to go a bespoke on them for you

The cost wasn’t really the seats. It was all the moving parts and electrical installation bits which needed retro fitting and that was just for the 4-way seats. Most of the cost was labour. If it was £2-3k I would definitely do it.

Technically, the 992 Touring will be a better car in every aspect; performance, dynamics and technology.

I think the truer question is what are you missing in a 991 Touring which you would need a 992 to have. I feel that most people in this market of current sports and/or supercars are hankering after a more engaging driving experience rather than outright pace. If that wasn't the case, everyone would drive a 720S.

With more and more regulations coming in, I can only anticipate that the 991 will be the last of the more modern cars which were interesting before the rules and regulations with filters really came in.

My only wish list for a 991.2 upgrade would be less weight and proper shocks with crazy light weight wheels.

The 992 will bring none of those things hence a pointless upgrade.

Weight is the killer now days and it seems they cannot or more the point they will not do anything to take 250lbs out which for Porsche would be pretty easy.

They nailed the 991.2 design, it’s a stunning car vs the 997 era and has maybe the best engine Porsche have ever built at these values.

What do you want from a 992 ? Imo it’s a bit ugly, the dash is nasty as are that massive cup holder. It's bigger and will weigh more and sound worst.

Yes it will be faster, who cares we hit a point now speed and laptimes are autos and R spec tyres, not adding 20bhp.

991.2 GT3 will be iconic in any manual form.

How does this square with you repeatedly claiming that loosing a small amount of downforce and ram air in a Touring is a big issue?
