Does anyone else have one of these on order?

I am so excited by this car and think its a real beauty. Still thinking about how to spec it, anyone care to chip in? What should I add as a must and what to avoid.

I really like the targa and have had 2 Targa GTS’‘S. This heritage edition, oh dear god! It looks like a coked up oligarchs son has came home late and much the worse for wear. Got on his configuratir and thought, I need a car for next weeks rich offsprings tt of the year gathering. The package on the bodywork looks like the protection stickers for transport but they’ve to be left on and. All In my humble and f course. A true money spinner edition. Opportunity missed.

I like Porsche Targa’s but that has to be one of the worst looking limited editions I have seen.
This must have been a Friday afternoon design after lunch in the beer house.
Those decals look terrible.

Looking at the picture, the 992 looks huge, relative to the size of the driver.
And, yes, the stickers look grotesque. Never been a fan of tacky PORSCHE stickers - everyone knows it’s a Porsche - subtlety is classier.

Think it looks great. Had 2 x 991.2 Targa 4GTS, will 100% have another as soon as it comes out in GTS.

Just stick your car number from VMAX tomorrow on the door don't bother with H pack!

I will be at the next one, not enough time to get PPF done. My friend will be there in his Crayon one tomorrow.

With apologies to the OP as I like Targas but good god what were they thinking? The decals are terrible and racing numbers on the Boulevard cruiser model is very weird.

Can you buy one and delete the decals and all the gold exterior bits? I like the deep (carmine?) red and wheels though

Well, I knew some people would not hold back..............

The decals are optional, no one mentions anything other than not liking the decals, so a sticker that is removable is enough to hate a car, REALLY!!

Note to self, spec WITHOUT THE HORRIBLE DECALS.

Don’t get why people don’t like these but we’re all creaming themselves over how the Speedster looks with decals. Targa the much better looking car imo.
Good luck speccing it - am sure it will be enjoyable to own. I really like that red colour. We all like different things (I for one think the unpainted carbon body parts on the smarties coloured RS cars look like somebody took a wrong turn at halfords).

Have you been allocated a car? My OPC only had one allocated to them.

Welcome to Pistonheads.

The design is a marmite one but you are buying it for you not others, as long as you like it who cares what others think.

There really are some odd people around ! I am not sure I’d go for the “meatball” numbered sticker on the side but I reckon it’ll be a great looking car. I think the Targa’s look stunning.

Personally I think if I was going to spend that much I’d have a look at going paint to sample and even going for a bespoke interior colour too. The ordering process is a ball ache but you’d get something unique. Some OPC’s will just tell you it’s not possible...you need an OPC/Sales Exec that is willing to do the leg work to organise it.

Yes I have an allocation. Not sure when it’s due yet, been told could be Nov-April so no idea it seems!

The Cherry Red is a great colour and is effectively a PTS colour as it is exclusive to the heritage edition targa.

I like the old school interior as it is.

People are generally scathing of "Limited Edition" marketing exercises. For Porsche they tend to be in one of two camps:
1. charge a premium for a unique paint job, some stickers and some tat
2. charge a premium for adding a bunch of decent options at a discount

It's debatable which one this is but £136k is a £27k premium over a standard Targa 4S which is a lot

I had a play around on the configurator and removed the decals (side and silly white lines on bonnet) and got to £145k without going crazy. Had to chose the black/acatama interior not the rhubarb and custard one

http://www.porsche-code.com/PM7GMUI3

Once i removed the decals the cherry red paint and heritage interior are the only significant "heritage" thing that are unique.

I guess Porsche would allow you to spec that as a PTS colour.

I then had a play around with a normal Targa 4S and realised those lovely alloys can be had on any model for £2.5k. And you can have the black/acatama Heritage leather interior with all the supposedly exclusive extra leather bits and green dials for £6.6k!!

I think I would buy a standard car with PTS and the exclusive leather package interior option and those alloys, and save £10k
