I'm looking to scratch a 911 itch i've had for far too long.
Yesterday i test drove a 992 S which is the first 911 i've driven for many years. I have to say it was mightly impressive if somewhat clinical compared to the italian cars i've owned in recent years.
Delivery for a new order would be end of this year/early next year so i'd likely go for a March 2021 registration, which then made me wonder when there would be a 992 GTS version? i asked the dealer but he pleaded ignorance so does anyone here have an accurate idea?
As we now seem to have all other 992 derivatives i'm guessing the launch could be later this year?
I'd use the car as a daily so the 992 S i tested was perfectly comfortable with just Sport Chrono Pack and Sports Exhaust. Could i expect a similarly optioned GTS to be as comfortable and usable?

Actually, quite a lot of people are saying that the base 992 is the ‘Best Buy’ in the range, although the new ‘T’ could also be interesting when it arrives.
No doubt covid has delayed the launch programmes, but Porsche will want to get things back on track, and healthy for them to have demand exceeding supply. So, I would guess, likely to be quite a few launch announcements over the coming months.
I do believe that most OPCs genuinely don’t know.
Some years ago they were told not to quote Internet speculation, but to await official announcements.

Based on the 991.2 gts I had the ,gts models are not as comfortable as the core models,they have sports suspension which lowers and firm up the ride,everything else is the same from a comfort aspect.Are they as useable..yes but depends on your ride tolerance .Yesterday i test drove a 992 S which is the first 911 i've driven for many years. Hard to know re 992 GTS....my guess is first half of next year at the earliest. They’ve just launched Cayenne GTS a couple of years after the car was launched...thinking back to 991 I think it was 2014 so that’s a 2 or 3 years after launch. I think it’s used to give sales a kick half way through the expected life of that model.
I have had my 992S for a year now and think it is all the car you would need as a daily. The GTS will probably come with centre locks which can be a pain, and the Alcantara option seems de rigueure on this model, which I am not personally that fond of. There will no doubt be a tweak to the turbos to add another 20 or 30 bhp but it is a quick car already. I came out of a 991.2 GT3 and it doesn't feel that much slower on the road. On the track a different story.
My big carry over from that car was to spec ceramics. They make a big difference IMO and are immensely powerful, totally quiet (unlike the GT3) and modulate perfectly even at low speed.
And no I don't know when the GTS will come out either!

I know what you mean about the 992 C2s, I did 15k Miles in a coupe and cab brilliant every day cars. No idea when the GTS will be out would 100% have one in a Targa. Would expect to see the same Bhp increase over the S in line with the 991.2s, ie another 50bhp for the GTS. Yesterday i test drove a 992 S which is the first 911 i've driven for many years. I’m still struggling with the 992.
In its own right, doubtless, a brilliant car. But, as an evolution of the 911, I find it too big and too techy.
In photos, the proportions look ok on the big wheels, but I stood next to a 992 Cab in a car park yesterday and it looked enormous compared with the compact dimensions that have always been an attractive part of the 911’s USP.
Also, not a fan of the cabin - much prefer the traditional ‘analogue’ look and feel. Older 911s weren’t perfect, but that was part of the character.
In many ways the Boxster/Cayman are the ‘new 911s’ and the 992 has gone, perhaps, where the 928 wanted to be.
Even my OPC chap conceded that there has been some resistance from traditional 911 customers, and a lot more interest from buyers wanting a base model with minimal options for sub £90k.

I watched 90 minutes of Nick Murray's 992 Videos over the weekend, going through all the factory options. Thanks to him (and you!), if i order a 992 i will save about 5 Grand on options i thought i needed but really dont. I think £110k gets a very well specced 992 S.Thanks for the replies re 992 GTS.
As some of you mention, the 992 GTS will likely be slighty firmer in ride and less comfortable to live wth daily than a 992 S, although i have started to wonder what an amazing car the GTS could be with the new manual gearbox option ticked.
If i decide to order a 992 S, delivery would be end of this year so i'd wait until March 2021 delivery anyway. As I have few months on my side before i'd need to confirm an order I will keep an eye out just in case a GTS is launched in the meantime.
Regarding discounts, is this something i can expect on a 992S? I have heard of dealers giving circa 5% on Cayenne, Macan and Panamera but i'm unsure with the relatively limited 992 supply if that is likely?

I agree about the size, I've owned every iteration since the 993 and the new car is a bit of a fatty. I happen to like the interior, the 991 was just too cluttered for my tastes and I think they've got the 992 right in this regard. I probably won't order one, but a base car with a manual box would probably get my vote, though I've previously gone for S and GTS models. In its own right, doubtless, a brilliant car. I am after a 992cab and toying with idea of ordering a new one.

The options I was unsure about but don't think i need now are:
PDCC £2273
Power Steering Plus £185
PASM £665
Rear Axle Steering £1592
All subjective of course but I also drove a car without any of these options and did not feel it lacking at all.
I also like my car audio. After hearing the BOSE at my local dealer it is actually a big improvement over previous versions and relatively good value at £1002 making Burmester a waste of money.
If your waiting until next March just be wary that there is the possibility of a 10% levy on the car (post Brexit transition has ended) which Porsche will have no choice but to pass onto customers.

Unless you're hellbent on a new car I would consider a turbo or turbo s from the 991.2 era. When I tested the 992 range at the PEC centre last year, I asked several of the instructors which 911 variant they would own and they all (individually) said the turbo S. I don't know what it is about the 992 range but they feel big and soulless compared to all the other 911's I've previously owned. I got a Turbo 991.2 recently and it's got way more character than the base, S and 4S 992 IMHO.
