996 headlight unit not working
Discussion
Morning all, so I’ve removed the headlight unit for cleaning due to some yellowing of the plastic. Used the usual kit and it’s come up much much better, great improvement. For some reason it’s now stopped working completely, have refitted, it’s sat correctly but no joy. Now I’ve only had the car a a couple of months so fairly inexperienced. Is there something else I need to do, missed off that would stop the whole unit working? It’s a 98 tip c2 if that makes any difference! Thanks
If none of the bulbs in the unit are working then I would suspect the multi plug connector.
When you slide the light back in it has to make the connections with the multi plug, maybe you didn’t push it back in enough or it is not making the connections for some other reason such as a dislodged connector in the headlight mounting bracket fitted to the car.

Sounds very much like the connector.
The pins rust and fall off over time.
Try taking the unit out again with the tool and inspect the pins in the connector.
Worst case just get a new plug and wire it in, or if not that comfortable, it shouldn't cost too much for an auto electrician to fix.

It looks like the connector is loose...

I’m not entirely sure which bit it need to replace, wether it’s the connector itself, the yellow bit the locks it in or the whole lot!
