Help! 997 cooling (radiator) fans not working
Discussion
Hi all, I posted last week that my 2006 C2S overheated when it was being MOT tested. Well now I've had it back a while it's clear that the cooling fans are not kicking in. They are not functioning at all.
My understanding is that each fan has two relays that control low and high speed and that each fan has its own resistor so it would seem highly unlikely that the fault lies with any of these components because both sides are not functioning and essentially they will work independently of each other if one side fails.
Also, I understand that the fans should kick in on low speed if the a/c is switched on (and that this input in to the climate control that comes from the DME is a separate signal that operates the cooling system??), but the fans don't cut in with the a/c switched on either.
So there seems to be something failing that controls the overall signal to the fans. Any ideas out there?

^ThisMy NSF fan wasn't working a few years ago, but the OSF fan sound like a Tornado on re-heat. Got the car up on a jack and pulled the wheel and arch liner, found a ton of hard-dried silt wedged between the fan and the cowling. Took about 40 minutes start to finish, worked a treat afterwards.
Had exactly the same problem. Garage managed to free one up but had to replace the other as it was beyond repair. I think the location of these attracts a lot of debris, especially if you don’t have guards over the vents. Cheapest about a year ago was Porsche for a replacement fan, from memory about £250
