GT3 ideal spec ?
Discussion
The must have spec is the one right for you.
It’s that simple.
Start with gearbox choice, manual vs PDK.
That give you 3 models, then pick body style touring or full fat.
Then which of the 3 seats you like.
Then look for which colour you want.
Then which brake system.
Also do you want leather or not and then 3 stitching colours.
Once you have those 5/6 things sorted you can then think what YOU need as the extra's.
Do you want lift to get on your drive ? As an example.
Are you older and drive at night ? If so LED are amazing.
Do you want, BOSE, DAB, Cruise, reverse camera etc etc.
No one can answer even the 1 big option for you, only you know what car you will be happy buying with your money.
Just about every car is one of one hence there are 350 cars and thus you would get 350 different answers.

The three most important options are gearbox, brakes and seats in my opinion. They all have quite a big impact on how car the car drives and feels. Without doubt gearbox is the most important.
Everything else is kind of peripheral but the “must haves” as the market seeks it are
Clubsport (Cage)
Buckets
PCCB’s
LED’s
Front Lift (lots of people want or need this)
After that a lot of people will want
Leather (Must have for a lot of people)
Sport Chrono (Ditto)
Bose
Dimming Mirrors
DAB Radio
Reversing Camera

Thanks for the advice, based on your list I have a clear view as to what works for me, the only niggle I have is around the manual which I have not driven but am tempted by.
If you have a manual 997 GTS it’s a very different experience...in a good way. The big difference I would say you’d notice driving a manual is how much quicker the engines revs....makes the 997 GTS engine feel a bit lazy. Gear change is what you would expect, shorter throw and feels more mechanical...both great gear changes though. Brake pedal is much firmer as well so combine that with the quicker revving engine and it’s quite a different car to H&T. Mak77 said:

The 991.2 GT3 imo is all about the manual gearbox. Go down in Porsche history this car.
The gearbox they bought back after a 7 year gap and did it right.
Every super car offers an auto, Ferrari, lambo, AMG, Macca, Porsche.
No one offers what the manual 991.2 GT3 offers.
Nothing wrong with PDK, but the 992 will better it, and you would always lust after the RS model in the range if you really want a PDK box.
No spec is right or wrong. Buy what you want and what suits your needs.
Negotiate hard if it’s a none touring, cars aren't flying off the shelves and get them to throw in the first service for free if it’s close.
Price aside in my opinion the one to own would be the touring, but only that’s because I personally feel it’s a more useable looking car on the road and have no great interest in taking a car I personally own on a track. Not that there’s anything wrong with tracking any Porsche, as they are great cars imo.

Oh yes they are if the right spec. The poverty spec ones are the only ones hanging around. You should still be able to negotiate a small amount though once you have found your ideal spec for sale. Dont hang around though. I missed out on 2 trying to source mine because people were just phoning up and buying unseen.Far Cough said:

Not sure, the cheapest cars that were on sale a few weeks back are not for sale anymore. Most of the clubsports that were for sale a few weeks ago are still for sale in fact there are virtually no poverty specs depending on what you interpret as poverty spec, the cheapest cars are well specced ,but have actually been used and not stored in a garage. There are 21 cars on ph for sale, 11 auto with buckets,3 auto with sports seats,6 manual with buckets and 1 manual with sports seats ( That is an odd spec given the type of person who seems to want manual ),13 cars have pccb's .

The manual with the sports seats is a lovely combination for someone who likes t do some touring. My 997 has sports seats and was great for touring, especially when my daughter was young.

Pick the spec that is right for you.
PCCB squeak like mad when they are hot.
If you want a plush interior go for the leather dash, steering column and trans tunnel in leather.
Don't let the manual boys put you off PDK, its a terrific box, especially around town.
The pdk is great ,I’m a convert ,not sure I’d ever go back to a manual after 35 years of buying only manuals .PCCB squeak like mad when they are hot.

interesting, does that mean you think the 992 GT3 will only be available with PDK then ?I assumed Porsche haven't had to make any sort of announcement yet, but if it's PDK only there will be a lot of unhappy American Porsche buyers (they seem to buy more manual Porsche's than we do).
The PDK debate is always interesting. I learnt how to use the PDK gearbox thanks to a PEC instructor. I really do wonder if all the manual brigade think the gear lever is just left in auto all the time. It can be just as engaging for driving pleasure, and left in auto when on the boring parts of a road journey.
