In short the 996 turbo X50 pack raised the power from 420bhp to 450bhp.

The X50 package was offered as an option on the Turbo that included larger K24 turbochargers and intercoolers, a revised ECU and quad-pipe exhaust which raised power output to 331 kW (450 PS; 444 hp).

Thanks, I wondered if there were any threads extolling the virtues over standard turbo?

Also DMS can map up to 520 bhp, any value or consequential damage potential?

Any thoughts on a more exuberant exhaust system/note at a reasonable price?

There's quite a few. You can imagine the content, usual debate where advocates say the extra power is worth it, whereas others say it not worth the additional lag and the std car drives better

My take is that if you're buying a second-hand 996 turbo, there are far more important aspects of the car to be seeking. Even the 'S' (which included X50) isn't that special.
The more specific you are about which 996 you're seeking, the longer it will take to source (if one ever comes up). e.g. if you're seeking a blue, x50 coupe, <60k miles, specific colour of leather, good condition with good history. you might be waiting a very long time.

If you need more power, I'd be taking a trip to DMS.

Thanks, happy with what I have put deposit on, I was just keeping an eye out, it popped up with good history, recent expenditure and from a reputable Indy, so deposit went down.

DMS does appear a lot on here, is a tip tune worthwhile as well and where from, I am Wakefield based?
