Just had my gear box Oil changed and the front diff oil, whilst everything was off the underneath the leak was discovered, I got the pic and a brief description of where it was located “drivers side beneath the seating area”. I got the feeling he didn’t want to tackle the job, and looking at the clamp on the pipe below it’s been leaking some time ? The odd thing is I’ve not topped up the reservoir or noticed any wet patches on the garage floor so can only assume it’s weeping at the seals as opposed to a full on leak.

My question is....... and I’m anticipating the worst possible outcome, which pipe is this ? I’ve read previously that there’s a pipe that requires the Engine out to replace ? I’m guessing my lucks run out and this is the case here ?

Any one else had this done ? Is the dreaded engine out one ? And what’s the cost involved and the obvious other question what else to do whilst in there ?

Thanks in advance,

Corky

I am no mechanical expert and I own a 2009 997.2 with 100k on the clock, my recent MOT spotted a coolant leak, apparently it's quite a common issue.I had the complete pipework replaced with the engine in situ for £800 by a local garage that I trust. Good luck.

I guess you're looking at the rubber pipe.

My 996 had a pinhead leak from one of the metal pipes (as can be seen) from the engine to the front caused by chaffing on the plastic clip. There was a visible leak under the car and topping up needed. This required the engine to be removed so I had a few other jobs done at the same time. brake pipes, pump etc.

I'm not a mechanic but yours looks like it should be easier and cheaper.

Good luck.
