I am now official - bought my first Porsche yesterday.

997.2 2009 C2S Manual in Basalt Black with Carrera Sport wheels, PSE (yay) but no Chrono (clean dash, yay).

Was thinking I'd like to switch the wheels to matte black SportDesign for that black on black look, (or to matte black OZ UltraLeggera HLT) but no rush.

Maybe they'll grow on me. But do let me know if anyone has matte black SportDesign wheels and would prefer to swap to Carrera Sport. Its all personal preference.

You've got the nicest wheels available for the 997 imo.

Great car and I really like the wheels
Fond memories of driving my friends similar spec car (although white) 10 years ago. Made me fall in love with the 997 generation cars.

OP
Had those wheels on mine, they are the smartest. Got a set of classics with winter tyres if you’re interested.

Thanks all for your comments. No rush on the wheels. I'm a sucker for "murdered out" black on black, and I've seen enough 997's in Basalt Black with matte black SportDesign combos for it to tickle something deep inside me. But these current wheels do look good. I'll let em settle on me for a few months or so and see.

I gave it its first wash (2 bucket naturally!), vacuumed frunk and interior, all windows cleaned, and of course I spent about half an hour in the engine bay cleaning various bits and pieces - yes I'm full tragic.

Here she is popping into Chelsea for some go-go juice. Shiny!

A spot of rain today, so I ordered new wipers front and rear. In a perfect world I would probably choose 'no rear wiper' for aesthetics, but since it is already there on my car, I don't think its worth doing a rear wiper delete. Any thoughts on that?

Great car. On the wheel issue i would put some winter tyres on the old set and then get a new set of your choice when Spring sets in. I know its not really common or necessary in the UK, but here on the Continent it is a legal requirement from the 15th of October and besides that, once you have made the outlay you always have the best tyres at hand for whatever condition. Enjoy.

Lovely car. Congratulations.

I like the wheels but then I guess I would... a couple of pics if you like the black-on-black look.

Those wheels are the best 997 wheels. Don't change them or ruin the car by going black on black.

The current combo looks great. But if you really need to spend more money then spend it on closing that arch gap a bit.

Were you driving around with your front boot open, on the latch? biggrin
