991.2 Turbo or 991.1 Turbo S

I am looking at buying a 991.2 Turbo or 991.1 Turbo S (roughly same price in todays market).
I am unsure which is the better option and if would I notice the differences between the two models.
I currently have apple car play in my car and find it very useful but would the 991.1 Turbo S out way the small advantage of an updated PCM?
Any other fundamental differences between the two apart from power and brakes?
Appreciate any advice?

All depends on whether you want to go stupidly fast or really stupidly fast. 
As well as the things you highlight the Gen 2 Turbo has the improved electrical power steering which is a noticeable improvement on the Gen 1.
The S comes with centre locks and ceramic brakes as standard plus a few other bits. The 991.2 Turbo does get the rear wheel steer as standard like the Turbo S.
Depends on what you value most in a car. Be in no doubt, the non S is a very fast road car. I would question anyone to say they *need* more power - especially if you intend to daily the car right throughout winter. Although I can see the appeal of the Turbo S as the top-of-the-tree car.

I have been watching these for a while. Seems to be roughly about half the number of turbo to turbo s for sale at any one time. Also if you want a colour other than black or white there is an even smaller selection.
I would try and drive both if you can. Both are faster than you will ever need but for me it comes down to car play and that I could keep a newer car in warranty for longer. Both will be reliable and cheap to run (comparatively to other makes). I can’t understand how you can get carplay OEM fitted in a 996 but not first generation 9X1. There are of course aftermarket options.
991.2 did feel sharper to me. Some hang around for a long time when unrealistically priced. Others get snapped up quickly - I missed out on a Carmine red non s coupe while away which seems to be a rare colour and haven’t seen one come up for a long time. I've been pondering the same question too.
One other factor is whether you want PDCC or not - obviously standard on the S? It was menntioned on an Evo video review of a 2014 991 Turbo, and I also found this old thread on it too.

You might find something useful in the older threads below. I'd go for the 991.2 and forego the centre lock wheels and ceramics, although one owner posting on one of threads below stated that the C/L are no bother if you have the tools and he annually switches over to a winter wheel set. I know we dont buy these cars for the UI but in reality its something we use every day and the .2 is a step forward for sure.

I quite like my 991.2 Turbo S.Only had it since the late summer but the ‘best’ description I use to describe it is ‘completely benign and drivable every day when you need it to be and utterly implausibly insane when you want it to be.’
Absolutely love it - and it’s a Cab!! Although haven’t really had the roof down much......

One question - which is not unique to the Turbo but the 991.2 - is my settings keep resetting each time I get out the car (in particular seat position, door lock, reverse mirror adjustment).
I did not have this issue in my 991.2 GTS - but has happened each of the last few days.
