Ok - Considering a swap out of my M3 and back into a 911 as a daily. I train into work so it’s not much of a daily in the real world, we have a Macan GTS for that.

So I’ve seen 2 lovely cars. Both manual. Both similar mileage. A T with rear seat delete and carbon buckets for £7k less than a GTS, well specced but no RWS and basic headlamps.

Any thoughts/opinions.

Don’t want to lose my shirt as I lost £20k on my 992 earlier this year 😡

T - more basic if you like that thing, does it have the lightweight glass? Quite spec dependent, so manual/buckets/rear seat delete/lightweight glass would be good and probably hold its value but does explain why it's so close in price to a GTS. You'd have to really want the T to pay top doller.

GTS - faster, much more luxurious, more kit, rear seats, good residuals.

Pick your poison, only you will know which suits you best.

It’s a tough choice. The T has rws, lightweight buckets, no sunroof, manual. Basically drivers spec.

GTS is also drivers spec. Manual no sunroof, basic headlamps, BOSE, nice interior. No RWS though

If you're thinking of depreciation in the desicion, which l think you are, I'd go for the T.
It's a rare car in that spec, and would probably feel more connected too.
The added caveat is you haven't said what the actual asking price is.

£77k for the T and £84k for the GTS. Both with OPC

Only £7k difference? I’d take the GTS all day everyday and twice on Sundays.

Especially if you’re going to use on anything approaching a regular basis.

I'm not that clued up on GTS prices, but 77k is probably reflective of the options that T has.
It'd be a decent buy at 75, but given it's rarity I dunno if there'd be much riggle room from the OPC.
Though who knows in the current climate.

If you don't want the rear seats and perhaps prefer buckets, don't discount a GT4.
It's not as practical though, and the shorter gearing in the T makes for a more fun road car.

The current climate has limited impact on OPCs. I achieved a grand of my new (to me) Gen 1 GTS.

Absolute maximum movement. Still, that’s a future set of tyres, roughly.

Probably more people would recommend the GTS, because it has the more desirable spec for more of the time, and the T is supposedly a more basic driver oriented consideration.

From my glancing at the classifieds, I have noticed that nice GTSs seem to sell quite quickly, but Ts are currently very slow to move - so perhaps a better deal to be negotiated off the 'asking price' on a T.

Either way, I think now is possibly a good time to be a buyer.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve had a GT4 for 2.5 yrs, this is for road not track. I’m kinda drawn to a playful T, esp if a £600 map would take it to 460+ Bhp. But the GTS feels like a more grown-up option...

As an owner of a manual T for nearly 3 years now, I would say that you should enjoy either car very much. Purely personally, if I had a GTS, I would prefer PDK but I suspect that is a minority view.
With the lightweight glass and reduced sound deadening, the T is very endearing as a sports car and, frankly, already plenty fast enough for a road car. £600 spent with Litchfield will liberate 95bhp (!) more though, slightly more than a standard GTS if you demand more power...
A manual T with buckets will possibly be more fun, the GTS would still be a special car though. Pick your preferred colour!

I sort of agree with this PDK for GTS and manual for T.

I have had 2 T’s now, both manual really suits the engine. One with buckets and one without. As good as the buckets are, I preferred the car without. Made it more useable, easier to get in and out. I found myself taking it more of the time instead of my box on wheeels Range Rover.

Think hard about buckets is my only advise.

I have a 2018 T, specced by its original owner with manual and PCCB's along with 18 ways and sunroof. So it has foot in both camps of drivers spec and comfy daily.

It's now been tuned to 660PS by 9e with full Kline Inconel exhaust, DSC controller, KW lowering springs etc and a lot of other upgrades. Definitely a keeper.

I’m having a similar debate although my thinking also includes a new Cayman 4.0 GTS.

Perhaps not the purist view, but whatever route I take would be PDK as this suits the way we use our car.

Based on the spec / age / mileage etc I am probably seeing a £10k difference between the 911’s although I have not seen a PDK T in GT Silver and suitable spec for some time. The 911 GTS in the preferred colour (Crayon) always seem to sell quickly at strong asking prices

For me, I do wonder whether I really need the performance of the 911 GTS? I have driven a (manual T) and it’s plenty quick enough for road use in my view....

A new Cayman GTS would probably run to £76k/£78k on the road

I would be moving from a high spec 2016 981 Cayman GTS which I have enjoyed for the past 3 years and the cost to change remains a serious consideration. I only extended the warranty for 2 years in late June so in some respects I am in no rush.

I will follow this thread with interest

Have to say that I deliberately didn’t spec the buckets on my T when new and am very happy with the standard seats with sports-tec and T pack. I am cursed with a tandem garage which would make getting in and out a bit of a pain otherwise.

Decision made! I’ve gone with the manual GTS. It is a unicorn and just looks great. It is a lovely spec and having had 2 997 GT3’s and a GT4 in the past, I wanted to get back into a manual. I’ve had a 991.2 GTS before but it was a pdk and felt lacking in involvement. I then went into a 992 S, and whilst a lovely car, it just felt too GT for me. The 991.2 feels like peak modern 911 to me.

I feel lucky to have found a manual GTS. It’s black on black so looks pretty stealthy and I can kid myself that I’m a cool mo-fo 😂.

Buckets are great, I did Barcelona to Surrey in one sitting in my GT4 with those seats and had no probs at all. But for a daily, they’re probably a little too much. A GTS (or even a T) is not a GT3 and I’ve decided that I’d like a useable 911, something that requires less compromise when I use it

GTS is the right decision in my opinion especially at the price differential you mentioned.
