Wait for a GTS vs. Used C4S
Discussion
Hi All,
Long time lurker but first time poster here. Thanks for all the (indirect) help in my search so far!
I'm in the market to buy a 992 Cabriolet (missus insists it's a cab). I was originally waiting for the launch of the GTS with a deposit down however a C4S Cab has become available in pretty much my ideal spec (apart from RAS) via an OPC.
It's an early 992 but with just over 1k miles and pushing nearly £130k new:
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-4S...
I'm looking for some opinions and thoughts on what to do. I'm not particularly in a rush as in my mind I was waiting for the GTS and also the UK looks like it will be heading back into lockdown, limiting chances of fully using it. Financially I can cover both but although this is my first 911, I don't want to blow silly money and would like to keep the total cost of ownership as reasonable as possible over 2-3 years.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!

High spec car ! Hard to tell with OPC photo's how red the roof is...if it's darkish it could look really good but guessing not something a lot of people would go for.
I think you could be waiting a long time for a GTS (unless OPC has told you different) so I'd probably go for it. Life is too short and in these times the feel good factor is important!

Thanks Cheib - it is darker than the photos suggest.
I've been told mid-Q3 for a GTS Cab so I'd guess another 7 months away.
Does £109k seem reasonable for a nearly 2 year old 992 Cab?

Interesting comments on the roof! It's actually darker in person than the photos suggest based on the ones I've seen out there.
The red roof is one of our 'must-haves'
I am not sure how important ease of resale is for you. But if it's a consideration, bear in mind that the red may limit your market. The red roof is one of our 'must-haves'

That looks expensive to me for a 2-year old car. If you specced your own, what would it cost - £120k?
To the same spec, £129,133, so a £20k/15.5% hit in 2 years.Spec in the config:

Nice spec car.
Sale or return vehicle not owned by OPC.
Red roof eith Dol Silver is good cab combo and is no problem whatsoever for resale.
Bit overpriced.
Discount is available on new 992 Carreras I would check this and lead times.
Out of interest what would the typical margin be to the dealer for selling a car on SOR?Sale or return vehicle not owned by OPC.

Don’t forget the OTR costs, probably another £2k with the first year VED, and assuming the dealer makes a margin it’s probably cost around £26k, c20% in 17 months. So I guess it depends on what value you put on being the first owner.Spec in the config:

Can’t help on value but other seems to think it’s a tad expensive. OPC will likely have between £5k and £10k commission on SoR and maybe the owner has some flex.

Porsche Sutton are Pendragon who would generally take up to £10k but as little as £4k on SOR cars but this depends largely on the owners buying/selling relationship with the OPC.

Agree with Cheib red/blue cab roofs are good news and sell well esp on silver cars.

No, you're disagreeing with Cheib (and me) who said the red is not something a lot of people will go for.Porsche Sutton are Pendragon who would generally take up to £10k but as little as £4k on SOR cars but this depends largely on the owners buying/selling relationship with the OPC.
Blue is a different matter entirely. Far broader appeal.

Registered 5/19 therefore factory warranty only to 5/22. The Centre will need to buy 12 months approved warranty to get to more than 2 years and unlikely to sell for the £108,990 listed. Trade in value £98k - £100k?Louis Balfour said:

Not on a 992 Cab.No measurable difference whatsoever in appeal to a used 992 cab buyer and no difference whatsoever in value.
Serious question.

Presumably you sell one red-roofed 911 cab a week, do you?
