I'm in lucky position of looking to buy a 991 Turbo (not to concerned about S), and am drwan to 991.2 for new tech, upgrades and styling. However, price differential is quite large and approaching £20k for similar spec cars. As an example this looks a nice 991.1 at £80k:

Where as a couple of year newer 991.2 Turbo is £100k:

Appreciate any views on whether additional £20k can be justified, gut says 991.1 is better buy?

Thanks

No experience but you can have apple car play / android auto retrofitted to the PCM for the 991.1 for around 800-900 fitted. For me that’s the major tech difference, not worth £20k for that.

I’ll let others with experience in driving both to answer the dynamics question.

The 991.2 rides a bit firmer but is a better handling car generally. The 991.1 is more ‘wafty’ which could be a positive, depending on your use.

I think the .2 interior is better and might be the best 911 interior of any generation. The .1 interior is started to look a bit dates I’s say eg the chunky steering wheel.

Go for newer car even if just for the newer infotainment. Later car laggier but quicker.

Nice one here in red. S is just a spec level so really worth having IMO. I see turbo languishing in the classifieds for ever.

This one could be worth cheeky bid. £85k its money. Been for sale 18 months wink

Agree with Imi forget the basic Turbo which are always slow sellers the more focused better spec Turbo S is the one to have and you will probably regret not buying the top model.

Now that the moritorium on vehicle repossessions has passed (31 Jan) expect to see more Turbos and TTS for sale although demand even in the current climate will typically strengthen as we approach Spring and peak buying season.

Never thought of it that way before but I agree.

I would aim to get a 991.2 turbo with 16k miles for about 85k with the 4 year service due included. Equivalent Turbo S's (mileage wise) tend to be 20k more.

Thanks all, although not a S, spec seems nice but does it still feel rich in price given comments and will it be a hard resell given not a S

Buy it. No brainer in that colour. Needs to be less than that JZM S though IMO. Snap smile

I'd also go for a cab as having the top down really brings the car to life.

It is nice. Unbelievably rattle free for a cab. Bike fast. Hate p riding in that car. Like a vomit inducing rollercoaster from passenger seat. Quite a fearful experience I must say hehe

They have a Blue Turbo in pretty much S spec. Looks great and was considering purchasing it myself.

The sapphir blue s at McLaren new forest looks priced to sell. Red seats with no crests might count some out though.

Gulf Blue looks absolutely stunning on a 991. Midnight Blue so conservative by comparison IMO almost invisible.

this, it's weird but the 'S' wasn't a huge thing on the 997 or prior but on the 991's + it's important to people

Ex OPC Silverstone showroom car....amazingly they couldn't shift it so put the decals on it and painted the calipers

Hi, i've had a 997 turbo so done turbo thing. Wouldn't mind a 992 GT3. If I don't get a 992 GT3 would love an old RS either 964 or 993. Had a replica 993 and it was the best car I've driven. I think the Gulf Blue 991 too much personally wink

Go for the S as the price difference is small but make sure your PCCBs are in great condition as that is a fair repair bill. my 2014 car had new discs and calipers fitted by Porsche by the previous owner circa 20k Makes you scared to work them hard!!!
