Hi guys

Moved from an RS6 to a Quattroporte 4.7s last August. Beautiful car but a bit too boat like!
I had a 964 many years ago and have been tempted by a 997
Came across this manual C4S - one owner car apparently bore scopes and all ok
Anyone know it or the dealer?

Many thanks

17s on a 997 - was that standard? My 56 plate 987 came with 18s as std. Just surprised, that’s all.

Ah right. The 17 inch in the last 3 lines caught my eye but it also says 19” earlier in the text!

Nicely understated and Michelins which is always a good sign. Discs don’t look great - look pretty scored in one photo. IME the insides will be a lot worse too.

If you look very closely at the tyres in the photos, the say “19” on the tyre size wink

Don’t know the dealer. Looks a nice car though. The dated PCM has been replaced which is good albeit not original (a plus in my opinion).

Retrofitting PSE/similar would finish if off nicely!

997 is a very nice car - just be sure on the bore topic you mentioned at the outset.

Says PCM - looks like it has been replaced. Also says sports exhaust. It is a standard exhaust not PSE.

It's got RSJ plates on it and looks like they sold it in May 2016 with 62k miles on it so may be worth a call to them?

Also, the left hand exhaust looks darker than the right one. Definitely a car to have a Bore Inspection done prior to purchase.

Looks nice though.

Not a bad deal, that.
A check over the MOT history shows a good link between advisories and remedial work, with the exception of the most recent MOT last November. If you're serious I'd get the seller to sort those two suspension notes, and also look into their 'Comprehensive Warranty' to make sure you've got peace of mind in case of any issues.

Insofar as the brakes are concerned, they're not scored, that's just surface rust from where the car has been washed for pictures. Again, from the MOT history, it seems they were replaced all round in November '19, particularly as the bells look like new. (When seen from above in the rear quarter pic)

Can't comment on bore scoring, but as others have said, the dealer should be happy to scope it if they're confident in the car. Might be an idea to sneak a look at the service history to make a note of the garage and call them to ask their opinion too.

Good point on the conditIon of the bells on the brakes - it was the rears that concerned me, not the fronts owing to the circumferential style lines. I know how quickly the discs turn orange on mine after washing etc. I’d at least ask the question about the inner faces of the brakes, even though the last MOT would suggest they have all been changed. New brakes all round was the first thing I had to do on my used 987 - was surprised when I saw the inner brake faces compared with the outsides...

I have a similar age / colour C4S. Looks like a decent car. My only remark is around the wear on the passenger seat base. Seems rather worn to me - without wanting to be rude, perhaps the usual user was... "well rounded"?

Exhaust tips look normal to me. Brakes ,well obviously its just been washed and the car moved a few yards with only gentle use of the brakes.

Personally not keen on the PCM replacement. You lose: trip computer, CD player, maybe steering wheel controls too (but you're still stuck with the ugly steering wheel).
