992 colour and wheel options
Discussion
Hi all I’ve put a deposit down for a base 992 C2, and have a few weeks to sort out the spec.
I haven’t seen many black ones on the road but was going to opt for jet black. Does anyone have thoughts on wheels? RS Spyder or Carerra classic were my preferred.
Think the Spyder ones look better but worried they’re a bit busy. Seen them on a night blue car and they look great!
Thank you

I’ve had a couple of 911s. A 991.2 and a 992. Both options I’ve gone guards red with gloss black wheels and styling.
Closest I’ve came to breaking that trend has been with the 992, my local OPC had a black base 992 with satin aurum wheels and it was a thing of beauty. If you go with black, consider those wheels. Second choice would be the 5 spoke Fuchs style wheel. Classic look.
RS Spyder are for me a little too common and a nightmare to keep clean.

Will probably take a leap for a new 911 this year, and keep coming back to Aventurine Green with Carrera Exclusive Design Wheels (Fuches) with the black accents evey time I play with the configurator - just looks so classic....
But that black, or even Gentian blue, with the Aurum wheels looks sweet too...

Depends how much you like cleaning cars. As always, black looks amazing when it’s clean but is a pain to keep that way. Same with the RS Spyders, great to look at but more difficult to clean than the other options.I haven’t seen many black ones on the road but was going to opt for jet black. Out of interest, how long is the wait/lead time on a base Carrera?
Agree about the base Carrera being the wise choice - I'm sure it's all the '911' most people would ever need - and certainly the best value. Just a shame you can't spec the 'manual' gearbox.
Colours are personal, but I would never have Black again - I'm not obsessive, but they only ever look their best when the 'detailer' has just been around
The 992 has been criticised by several journos and owners for tiresome road noise. UK roads are also noted for noisy asphalt, so I would probably prefer the 19/20" wheels with a low noise tyre such as the Goodyear F1s. However, you can't have pccbs with these, so I'd want a wheel colour that doesn't show too much brake dust.

Best advice is speak to dealer on buy back. What would they prefer?
Best advise is to spec it exactly as you would like it as ultimate its tour car, your money, etc.Dont really see the point of getting a brand new car if someone else decides what you should have to get the best resale. Seems an odd philosophy to me.
Thank you all for your thoughts. I think the aurum wheels are a little too bold for me! Black is a pain to clean but always love black cars.
I’ll likely choose one of these two options - I do like the simplicity of the classic wheels. The Spyder ones do look great but more so with other body colours I think.

In case someone is interested, this is my Sunday morning base Carrera build for today. “Just” 10% over base, mainly on carbon and leather interior. And a coloured engine compartement

One thing I would question.
Does the 992 really need the Sports Exhaust?
I know it was considered essential on the N/A engined cars, but I’ve heard and read several times, that, from the 991 turbo engined cars onwards, it offers limited enhancement - just more noise.
Yes, I know it’s become a box many people routinely tick, and a big saving on fitting it later, but from my limited experience with the 991.2, I think I’d spend that money elsewhere.
