Hi all,

I want to put my private plate on the 991 . It’s 5 letters. I noticed when cleaning the car the other day the standard plastic front plate mount is drilled into the front. Just mounting the new plate on would leave horrible black plastic either side so looking to replace the mount as well.

Anyone done this and got a nice solution that still hides where the holes are drilled ?

Thanks

Agree that shorter plates can look much nicer.
Rear not an issue, but front more problematic.

The plinth is normally fitted by the dealer when new, and should have two fairly close screw holes.
Problem is they (or others) then mount a full size no. plate and often drill two holes at each end, through both the plinth and bumper.
Only solution there is a repaint or fit a plate that covers all the holes.

However, due to the curvature of the front bumper, most solutions do require using existing holes or drilling somewhere to attach the plate as self-adhesive pads aren’t secure.

Some people have self-adhesive sticker plates made up.
Personal thing, but I never think these look particularly good.

You can buy a short front mount from Porsche.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-Porsche-991...

You would then have to check the holes in the bumper are in the correct places.

I have a 5 digit on mine, looks fine on a standard length plate.

Remove the plinth and there are 2 screw mounts built into the bumper, screw your shortened plate directly to these.
