Buying a 997.2 with engine replaced?
Discussion
I have been offered a 997.2 C2 with 70k miles that's had its engine replaced at 40k miles because of excessive oil use.
The engine was replaced by Porsche, on a Porsche Approved warranty that continues through summer 2022. The price is fair, the car is one owner from new, and has had all services done at an OPC.
Can you think of a rational reason to step away from this one?
What bugs me is that I thought 997.2 engines are rock-solid. Then again, no engine ever is, I guess. And presumably, come 2022 I could extend the Porsche Approved if I wanted.

I had a 997.2 that was using 1lt of oil per 1000 miles which I thought was excessive however it never gave me problems. I had the oil analysed and there was nothing to be concerned about.
Oil use was very varied, some reported using none, others like me were using what I believe is too much. Having said that a replaced engine isn’t a bad thing and it wouldn’t stop me.

I would like it - new engine has only done 30K. And factory. The engine was replaced by Porsche, on a Porsche Approved warranty that continues through summer 2022. The price is fair, the car is one owner from new, and has had all services done at an OPC.
