997.1 C4S Exhaust Options
Discussion
If you want my opinion I’ll gladly give it to you.... but you have to remember it’s my opinion and others will either disagree or disagree and get upset.
Personally, I wouldn’t touch 95% of the rubbish that’s out there as the hangers either fall off ! The seams split and the noise is appalling ! I wouldn’t put one on a Nova SR let alone a once high end sports car.
I’ve got a 997.1 C4S and when the inevitable happens it’ll either be original genuine Porsche fitted by me ! In the absence of Akrapovic for a gen.1 I’d consider a JCR custom made one, Akrapovic being my preferred, the OE route, well it’s been on there 15 years and mines got PSE so sounds great, and judging by some of the aftermarket rubbish I’ve seen even after a few months they’re blowing, broken hangers or blown all the packing out ! Of course not every one has suffered catastrophic failure and some might last a few years. But I won’t be buying into cheap stainless exhausts for a Porsche
The cheap ones I’d fit if mine were shot Thro and I needed to fit something shiny in an attempt to con a would be purchaser.
As I’m keeping it and after applying my “Buy cheap Buy Twice” logic then I’ll leave the crap ones on the shelf !
Some of these exhaust company’s offer warranty to the original purchaser, but as most sell these on they’re hoping to not have to keep replacing sections. Hangers etc.
As I said, my opinion.
I have had a Miktek, on a VW, it didn’t quite fit right and needed some jiggling about, I drove to their HQ north Derby and they took it off and fitted a new one which still required some forming and bending. After that it was perfect. This was about 15 years ago ?
I’d say miltek were one of the better ones, not only that if you get them to fit it chances are it will fit properly and validate the warranty in case it does go wrong at some point you know where you stand.
