What's people's thoughts on who to go to for a Pre Purchase Inspection (+ leakdown test) on a 996/997.1 GT3?

Local OPC for a 111 point check or a Porsche Specialist?

I got my GT4 MOT'd and 111 point checked by local OPC prior to purchasing. I issue was picked up and seller paid for that to be rectified as per agreement
I think it cost £150 for both
It made getting extended warranty very easy as it was due 1 month after purchase.
It also made recent warranty claim a no quibble affair as they had checked the car prior to me purchasing so could not use any excuses (not sure they would as so far OPC workshop side has been beyond excellent )

If you can do both the that is one option

I was more keen to get anything fixed prior to purchase and make extended warranty purchase easy which it was

OPC warranty is out of question for 996 cars now. An early 997.1 GT3 is 2007 and Porsche only cover up to 15th year: https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/p...

The 111 point check is not worthless though, but IMHO as many of these cars are looked after in the indie network, rather than OPC, it is there that I would look, as they have the real, current experience and data.

Get the car to someone you can trust, that you can use for the long term care of the car. Hopefully, but not essentially close to you - I'd travel for decent expertise and service - and with a good flow of 996/7 GT cars through their workshops.

911uk is pretty good and transparent for searching info on dealers and service garages. If they are bad, the forum is happy to let people point the fact out: http://911uk.com/viewforum.php?f=38
