Cup 2’s on a 991.2 GTS?
Discussion
I have PS4S atm and rears need replacing but PS4S’ seem to be on back order everywhere including from Porsche with no ideas of when they’ll be available. Can get them for my mini jcw either
Have they discontinued them?
My only option as I want Michelin and no other brand are Cup 2’s.
Porsche will put them on but just wondered if this was considered an ok thing to do. Had them on my GT3 and GT4 and they were excellent.
Any thoughts?

Cannot see any issues, get the Porsche spec ones and drive appropriately in wet and cold weather. The latest spec ones appear to be more durable than earlier versions which is a bonus. I’ve got them on half a dozen of my cars and I think they are a great tyre. Might be worth getting the geometry checked when you swop the tyres makes sense to make sure that there is less likely hood of premature wear. There isn’t a lot of tread to start with!
Thanks chaps. I get about 5000 miles out of a set of rear 4s’ which is probably about right if you drive the car in a spirited fashion as I do so will be interesting to see how long the cup 2’s last.
The 4s is a great weather tyre but alas non available. As there are none and I’m now having to replace all 4, Porsche have agreed to pay for the front cup’s if I pay for the rears as I’m having to now change all 4 tyres. Pleasant surprise but apparently it’s standard practice if the tyres you need aren’t available.

I think you will get a surprise as to how good the Cup is on a Porsche.I couldn't get 4k out of a set of rears on any of my M3s, so far ive had 7k out of the rears on the GT and they are still at 4mill inc the marker.A brilliant tyre .The 4s is a great weather tyre but alas non available. Interestingly I have just exchanged Supersports for PS4S as "wets and cold" on my GT4 ... I'm no longer concerned with N ratings which are too controlling in my view ... but P can and do pease themselves (rant over).
On the other hand, the offer by your OPC to share the cost of the Cup2's is very fair ...

If it was me I'd take the cheapest option from the OPC and get PS4Ss as soon as they become available again. They're known as the the best all round tyre for good reason.
Cup2s will be OK while it's dry and sunny but not in heavy rain or when it's single figures cold. You just can't keep enough heat in them.

I can do that but 4S’ are on back order with no date to suggest when available. Could be weeks Cup2s will be OK while it's dry and sunny but not in heavy rain or when it's single figures cold. You just can't keep enough heat in them.

I was having a bit of a nightmare trying to get some Cup 2 Connect's last year. My local tyre dealer got them from Europe....not sure how easy that is now but they said for some specialist tyres it is often much quicker. I don’t know why anyone would put cup 2’s on what is presumably a car used predominantly on the road?
PS4S are far better for road use, especially in the UK, given our weather. As above, I’ll be swapping the cup 2’s on my GT3 for PS4S as soon as they are done.

unless you’re going to be using the car a lot in the (very) wet and (very) cold.
