I see that a new flavour of petrol is being introduced in the UK this year and almost all of us are unaffected, thankfully!

However, Carrera GT will be.
A nice problem to have maybe, that you own a CGT..

So obviously there will be a work around, so anyone know what that is?
I’m just curious!

You never know I might own one in the future….

Use 97+ octane. This will remain E5.
I expect most CGT owners can afford the extra to use super unleaded.

I was told it was all petrol,
But no worries for anyone!

I believe the good stuff from Esso is ethanol free, shame their filling stations aren’t the nicest to use IME.

Yes. In most parts of the country Esso Supreme 99 is ethanol free. I use it in the 356 and the Hellcat and will use it in the CGT

I believe E10 fuel will be an issue for almost all classic cars. So owners of these will have to go premium/high octane which will remain ethanol free

Edit: as corrected below, not ethanol free but <=5%, which is safer for old cars

As I understand, not all super fuel is ethanol free.

As far as I am aware only Esso Supreme 99 is ethanol free. All other Super Unleaded including Shell VPower has 5% ethanol. I stand to be corrected

From Esso website FAQ:

"Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97 and Synergy Supreme+ 99 ) is ethanol free (Except in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland).

We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ – providing they do not fill up in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland".

With ESSO… depends where you live :

“ Although our pumps have E5 labels on them, our Synergy Supreme+ 99 is actually ethanol free (except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland). ”

I use vpower or Esso in my classics and so far with 5% have no problems since replacing all fuel lines with modern hose. Touch wood MFI fuel pumps seem ok

Correction.

All fuels are labeled to show what the MAXIMUM amount of ethanol content might be.

So Tesco Super may contain up-to 5% ethanol.

As above, Esso are sourcing some (dependent on distribution points) of their Super from Greenergy which is ethanol free.

Tesco also source their Super from Greenergy - they own a large percentage of that company.

That's interesting. So is that to say that it's a possible Tesco super is Ethanol free?
