New 997.1 owner - and recommend a garage in Essex
Discussion
Hi all,
I've finally taken the plunge after umm and ahing over something "more interesting", and really wanting to get a Lotus again deciding I should scratch that Porsche itch - plus with kids it means we can all fit into a 911!
So I now have a 2005 997.1 S, with Sports Chrono and the Gundo hack exhaust.
I'm not sold on the PASM, and would like to try the DSC controller but it's a lot of cash... At speed the PASM is good, but below 20mph it's really brittle! Seems at odds in many ways. Otherwise, the car is cracking and certainly a far cry from the Skoda Octavia vRS that it's replaced.
It had a bore scope and all clear (so far) and the larger IMS bearing so fingers crossed - but ultimately, if it'll need a rebuild then so be it, hopefully get some enjoyment before that point tho'
First point of order is a service and overall health check - is there's anywhere recommended in Essex, preferably south? I've heard about Autostrasse in Coggeshall, and ADH in Braintree - I have used PMW in the past for my old BMW's but not sure if they're a bit more general German stuff?
Reading around Autostrasse seem to be the ones - but just curious if this is still the latest advice

If Suffolk is in the running I'd definitely consider Reason Porsche too - great bunch, superb communications and fixed price servicing. No affiliation other than using them for a service on my 718GTS.

Hello, and welcome to 997 ownership!
I've used Autostrasse to look after my 997 C2s for eight of the last ten years, but, if I'm honest, they seem to have lost a bit of the attention for detail that you'd expect from an Indy.
I discovered ADH Porsche through a friend and have been very impressed with them so far. They did a major with spark plugs for me last February, (I'd usually do a yearly oil and filter regardless of mileage but I've either had the time or money, not both so far this year!) and they're very good on price, and also honest about what needs doing now / soon / later.
Would recommend.
