To buy or not to buy ? 997 911
Discussion
Hi all, I’m in a predicament with what to do. I have seen a 997 911 for sale which I can’t get out of my head. It’s a 55 plate Carrera 2, 87,000 miles. It’s got a full service history and the MOT history is amazing for a car of its age (failed 1 MOT in 2008 due to something minor, passed the rest) The car is priced at £25,000 and it’s in amazing condition outside and in. Is anyone able to provide some ideas of running costs per year / what to expect repair wise ? The link for the car is below, would really appreciate some feedback. Cheers, sam

It’s got a fake non OeM defuser
It’s got a fake Turbo badge on it
It’s got vile black painted wheels
Rear lights not standard
Actually it’s not good at all
Do you want me to link many vastly vastly better 997 911 C2’s?
You’ve missed the really offensive part of the car, that being the Tiptronic gearbox ...It’s got a fake Turbo badge on it

There are a whole raft of things that can go wrong with a 997, particularly a gen 1.
It’s not that difficult to spend £5k on one (on consumables) or even £15k if it needs an engine rebuild as well.
Watch some of the many YouTube videos. These chaps seem to know a thing or two

Looks terrible to me. Meddled with too much, which could be put right but there are far better equivalent ones on AT trader, some perhaps £1K or more over, with less mies, PPF'd, non-tip, and bore score checked.https://www.baytree-cars.co.uk/cars/porsche/911/3....
Can't understand why you have gravitated to such a poor example....but if it you love it then go for it.
If you want a Porsche, buy one from a respected Porsche dealer IMO - as said, a lot can go wrong so you want to make sure it comes with a good rep - I definitely wouldn’t buy one from a random garage unless it was fully inspected by a Porsche Indy
That one is pricey given it’s an auto, with that mileage

Have to agree with all of that, along with the acid yellow callipers, the drug dealer windows, the awful aftermarket rear lights, the aftermarket head unit and the tiptronic gearbox I would very much be looking elsewhere. It’s got a fake Turbo badge on it
