992 GT3 Oil Capacity

I’ve had an oil change done following completion of the running in mileage but was surprised to see that only 4.1 litres was added. The Oil gauge is showing the correct level but I was expecting double that quantity for an oil change so I am now concerned that not all the oil was drained despite the OPC, that carried out the service, saying that the quantity drained and the new oil added is correct and in accordance with Porsche technical manual for the 992 GT3.

Has anyone on here with a 992 GT3 had an oil change and if so how much oil was taken out and replaced?

There are a few posts on this subject over on Rennlist.

It's a bit strange but it sounds like only half the oil is changed - i.e 4.1 litres from an overall capacity of 8 litres

Thanks Echo Delta, I had a good look through that post on Rennlist and it seems to confirm that 4.1 Litres is for a refill but when new the engine is filled with 8 litres. Seems a bit daft that not all the oil can be drained out but the service interval is now 12K miles not 20K.

That is strange, however, I wonder many people would use a GT3 and not want to change the oil before 12k is up? That’s 4-6 years’ of use for some cars!

Based on 4 previous 911s, I'll get to 12k miles in about 18 months
