I am visiting OPC tomorrow to look at a 992 Carrera Cabriolet and order from there.

£5k deposit and deliver Q1 or Q2 2023!

I assume I have a long time to lock in options.

It is not my intention to go overboard with options - quite the reverse really. I wont use them and they wont add much to the resale value.

My Cayenne has a standard Stereo system which sounds fine to me. I had a RR Sport with Meridian upgrade and I can't really tell the difference but I don't tend to have it sounding like a rock concert. The Bose seem almost a goto option but if it is worth £1000 is questionable.

Also interested in views on wind noise etc on motorways.

I could go for a Carrera with a glass roof - but I have always wanted a Cab and it is almost Christmas!

There are lots of threads on 992 Carrera spec, but not the Cab.

I would be interested in any real life views of owning one, and also colour / options.

The back end of it is a bit bulbous from a rear side view which I suspect is best "hidden" with a dark colour - Gecian Blue looks nice. Guards Red also looks nice in the pics.

Any words of wisdom gracefully received.

Thanks

Had my S nearly two years.

Re noise/wind - the electric wind deflector is a major bonus to get that 'snugness' you get in 2 seaters.

Day to day, pretty civilised comfy car. Didn't spec much - surround camera, heated wheel, folding mirrors, adaptive cruise, auto wipers/dip rear view. (Think that was it). Would spec them all again.

Bose - I did some stationary tests and wasn't bothered. Bit different on the move. Next time, I'd consider, but would want some proper roof down tests first. There's quite a bit of road noise generally.

Don't feel I'm missing any other spec items.

As for hiding anything - mines yellow, and I'd go bright colour again!

So I ordered one today.

They had a Aventurine Green Metallic in the showroom ( a targa not a cab) and it looked great.

All their cars had black interiors - but beige looks nicer with that colour - in my view!

I took a 911 Carrera out for an hour by myself and had a good run. The cab top is apparently magnesium and they claim that there is little or no difference in road noise with the hood up. I will find out one day - they dont have a cab demo.

My cayenne has the std stereo - so I am leaving the Bose off for now.

The only toy extra is adaptive cruise which I fancy - but may never use. I only ever use speed limiter.

I now just need to wait for 18 months !

Any comments on spec welcome. Plenty of time to change it.

Sport Crono is popular - but the odds of me using it are close to nil.

Firstly cabs are great, I had a while out of one and missed it.
That spec looks really nice, for me I’d just add 18 way seats and perhaps sports design with raised rear plate, £s dependant.
My 991 hasn’t got Bose and I haven’t missed it.
Folding mirrors are nice (I’ve discovered) as you know you’ve locked the car!
Essentials for me which many I assume are std on 992, heated seats/wheel, TPMS, 18 way seats and DAB. Most of the other options are cosmetic and big profit generators for Porsche all IMO.

Congratulations Jeremy, looks nice on the configurator. Do like Aventurine, saw a 992 in that colour in the flesh the other day and was impressed.

Looks great, agree on SC as I did not order it either. Did they give any info. on when they expect the facelift?

I asked this.

The reply was

“It is due a facelift in the next 18 months, as long as you do not have a confirmed build slot it will automatically move into the new model year. If you want to wait for the facelift we can delay your build slot.”

Thanks. I am due a relatively early 23 model year based on the dates but from what you have said the 992.2 sounds like 24 model year on so autumn 23 production on. If mine is delayed into early calendar 23 then I might just delay a bit longer as I am buying mine as a long term purchase.

I dont know how long in advance a facelift is (a) known about - the magazines will spot them I am sure and (b) confirmed by Porsche.

I assume (b) will be delayed so as not to cause an issue supplying the pre facelift versions which - in general terms no one will want.
